Toshiba Corporation 8 yrs of family photos backed up on hard drive, lost all, Toshiba will not help me out at all Fremont California
I bought a Toshiba Hard Drive for safe keeping of 8 yrs woth of family photos. I bought the drive on 2/7, brought it home, transferred over 3500 pictures of my children & family photos only to have the drive crash 3 days later. I contacted Toshiba, they wont help me out. They are willing to repair it, but say it's up to me to try and get the pics recovered. I can't afford it, it's upwards of $500-$1500 depending on the time involved to get this done. I exhausted all of my efforts to get it resolved with Toshiba. this is what I was told my the supervisor.
"Dear Customer,
Toshiba is not liable for any loss data. You will need to take it to a data recovery center to have your data removed.

If the photos were merely backed up on the Toshiba drive then you probably have the photos stored elsewhere. You can just transfer the files from your PC or other drive to the Toshiba. Unless you're saying that you deleted the files from the other drive as soon as they were transferred to the Toshiba drive. In that case you do need to go to a data recovery specialist and unfortunately, Toshiba is not liable for that. Let this serve as a warning to others- a hard drive WILL fail at some point and it's going to be a nasty surprise when it does. Always store important files on multiple drives.
