Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
To start with how i was lured into the company, i should first explain the circumstances that made me want to believe in the promises. basically, i was kicked out of my home 6 months ago when i was 17, and have been homeless, in a group home, or in jail ever since. i had finally made it to las vegas, only to b scammed by the property managers taking the rental assistance money from homeless people turning to social services. after being wrongfully evicted, i was once again homeless in las vegas. i needed some place to go, so i responded to a so called "cool travel job" listed in the paper, that promised; paid training, lodging and transportation provided. when i called the number i spoke with a hiring coordinater that said the avg magazine went for 60 and i would make about half in comission. but she neglected to tell me that i made anywheres from 30-40% of the front, which is about half of the total cost before processing and handling. so in reality u make about 10-15 dollars per sale. of course that i found out after i had took the greyhound to michigan.

in michigan i was picked up from the greyhound, told to remember my first 5 and rip. also they then explained that i had a curfew for my first to weeks, and that if i smoked or drank i would not be able to during that time. later i realized that my curfew was to keep me from associated with any1 other than the crew. i found out that meetings were at 9 in the morning, could last up to an hour, and that from there we would have 5 drops or a 6th commando and stay out from 9 to 10 at night. at the door we were to try and sell this contest and the points for a trip, and 5000 dollars, and we were supposed to get inspired. thats what really made me realize it was a scam, esspecially since the points had nothing to do with the 5000, u get 5000 in 500 dollar increments every time u sell 10000 dollars of subscriptions in cash. the points have nothing to do with anything.

once i was out of my training i had found out that its common for agents to canvas a jones for weed, alcohol, or sex. and when i was able to knock doors myself i knew i was going to quit, so i tried to get just one cuz i fealt bad about scamming people, i didnt know if they would actually get their magazines or not. but, i was in the midwest so i wanted to not get fired at least until i made it to colorado, cuz i wasnt sure u would get a ticket. i made it to colorad in a van with 6 people, we had no airbags and it was a tornado lightning storm, our tire blew out and we were told by the tower or power boss, matt parker to push through and make it on a donut,so we drove 150 miles on it.

the best part is, the hotel and transportation isnt even free, they charge u 15 dollars a day for the hotel, 5 for gas and receipts. and with a 15 dollar a day draw u have to sell at least 3 a day to stay even. and thats working 12 hours a day 6 days a week, with a day to drive to another state and do laundry, clean the vans. apparently u can make money if u get 10 a day, which people very rarely do, and all the money u "make" goes to ur books. which u cant even take off of, they make u keep at least 400 on ur books, and they wont let u take off more than 150 at a time if they do let u at all. they also never tell u where ur going to be sent to until ur in the van driving for 8 hours, and most drivers dont even have valid licensces. half the reason i signed on was cuz they said they were going to spend a few weeks in chicago, when it was 2 hours into our "hop" that the car handler said we were going to iowa.

the final straw was everyone came off of spur for the first time (spur being groups of one van that split up from the 50 main crew) in quad cities, it was my first time seeing the whole crew, and everyone made a point of saying this is ur new family. also, the whole company goes to mexico for four days including christmas day once a year, which to me made it seem like an intentional attempt to separate a mag agent from his real family, friends and home.

the bottom line is anyone in tower of power is not only scammin u, they sometimes dont even realize it, and in reality whatever they get u for, just be glad ur not them. if one of them ever comes to ur door and claims to be in a National Career Award contest, show them this website.

The original poster must have been a real mo-mo to have such a sour taste for Parker in his mouth. Matt is a fantastic human being and does not deserve the attack. He is one of the best bosses i've ever had. I miss working for him.

I would like to start with I currently work as a workshop specialist for mr/dd and I'm attending a nursing program to become an LPN. I'm not here to call anyone a liar everyone has different experiences about everything in life. For instances how many times does mcdonalds mess up your food alot right and you still continue to hit the drive thru right. Well thats how I would everyone to think as they continue to read. I worked for Tower of Power Sales for about six years and in those six years alot of stuff happened in the end I treasure more good than bad. I have gone everywhere a couple times and had a blast doing it. But not only was it fun but I learned things I will carry with me for the rest of my life now when it was all said and done with i had many different titles which contributed to my learning experience. Like anything in life you get back what you put in and I dont regret any of it. Just to clear everything up Matt Parker is an awesome person and would do anything to help out a complete stranger but as any president of a company he is a business man. Of course you have to pay for boarding and transpotation so does the rest of the world and yes it was a sales job which if you dont sell anything you dont make any money. Just the same as any other sales job and it is door to door so it was more challenging but going back to you get what you put in.  I personally loved every end of it and have life long friends that will agree with me. Yes you do get your magazines my family has magazines coming out their ears from all the magazines that I sent home and if for some reason you dont get your magazines call the number on the receipt and give them the receipt number they will figure it out people are human they make mistakes. So in conclusion before you pass judgement remember there is two sides to every story.

THIS OUGHT TO BE ILLEGAL FOR PEOPLE TO DO TO OTHERS WHO ARE USUALLY YOUNG, INEXPERIENCED AND IMPRESSIONABLE KIDS! I THINK CONGRESS OUGHT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS RATHER INTERESTING WAY OF DOING BUSINESS AND OUTLAW IT OR RESTRICT THE AGES OF THOSE WHO CAN ENTER AND PERMIT THEM TO LEAVE WITHOUT OWING THEM ANYTHING. NORMALLY, WHEN PEOPLE ARE HIRED, THEY ARE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR TIME. A PURE COMMISSION AND A DRAW AGAINST THAT COMMISSION FOR KIDS DOES NOT EXACTLY SEEM RIGHT TO ME.

To the boy (or girl) above, it is dreadful that you had to go through that. I have been scammed by this company and I do not appreciate it at all. To the person who replied (magman4life): do you really think it is okay that this company takes peoples hard earned money when they don't get what they paid for and make kids walk for 10 hours a day selling a bogus product so they can make less than pennies on the dollar? Who is REALLY benefiting here? Mr. Mark? The crew leader? What are YOU to this company of lies? They got me... oh yes siree bob. But you know what? They also taught me that the next time, I should slam the door in that poor kids face. And is it really the kids fault? Nope. But it is they who will pay the price for the scam artists standing behind them. I guess if you think that is something to be proud of... more power to you man. If it was me, I would be thoroughly ashamed.
