BEWARE: bait'n'switch tactics at the twister group.

I recently conducted some research for a new all-in-one printer and decided on the Cannon pixma mx700 printer. I did a google product search and selected one of the cheaper hits for a little over a hundred dollars. Elsewhere companies were selling it for $140-180. The header clearly had PIXMA MX700 in it and I ordered one.

A few days later I received a Cannon pixma mx300, which sells for about $60. I checked my order and to my horror discovered that the listing shows a photo of an mx300. How had I selected the wrong printer? Easy. The listing header was "CANON MX300 PIXMA MX700 OFFICE ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER" It was clearly designed to trick people searching for the mx700 into buying an mx300.

I contacted twister group and got the runaround. Their warehouse was busy due to holiday traffic and it would take a while for me to get an RMA. Only when I filed a paypal complaint did they send a return RMA postage label. I returned the unopened printer. They received it in a day and then did nothing. 6 days later when I asked them why they had not refunded my money, they rudely complained that it had only been 2 business days. 12 days after they had received the printer, I told them I was giving them another day or two and then would be filing complaints. I filed several negative reviews, a complaint with the FTC, BBB, and paypal again. Paypal refunded my money.

Next I get a letter threatening me with restocking and postage charges if I don't remove some negative review. I ask them which one and told them that I posted honestly about my situation at the time and that I would not lie. They then ignored my request to know which review to modify and have now threatened collection. Here is the contents of their threat:

Then no need to worry: just expect a letter from our collection agency.

Remove from where? I reported honestly about you and about the situation at the time I made the reports. I've changed some of them to report that paypal refunded my money despite your threats. If you want, I'll update the others to include that paypal refunded my money

but I will also include the fact that you are now making threats against me.

As far as I'm concerned, the transaction is settled. Your moronic childish threats are tantamount to extortion and I will report them to paypal and to law enforcement if they continue. In no situation will

I lie for you.

Here is PayPal message received on 12/18/2007 when th dispute was escalated showing that it will not be considered by PayPal: Your buyer has chosen to escalate this dispute to a PayPal claim. As part of our investigation, The buyer is disputing the quality of goods associated with the transaction detailed below. As you may already be aware, PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies only to the shipment of goods and not to complaints about the attributes or quality of goods. Therefore, we will not conduct an investigation into this matter at this time. ==================================== And here is a message received from PayPal on 1/3/2008 confirming this refund issued by us: Dear The Twister Group, You have sent a full or partial refund to Adam Felson ([email protected]). It may take a few moments for this transaction to appear in the Recent Activity list on your Account Overview. Note to Buyer: Refund for order 154664 ----------------------------------- Payment Details ----------------------------------- Date Payment Sent: Dec. 13, 2007 Amount: $116.11 USD ==================================== The damages caused by this fraudulent dispute were turned to collection, not the product price: restocking fee and both ways shipping. It is a legitimate claim and will be pursued further. "I've done business with hundreds of individuals and business"? Check feedback on Amazon: http://www.ripoffreport.com/searchresults.asp?q5=amazon Nothing but ripoff. Well, this website is a place for complaints, not praises... There are nothing but negative experiences posted. We carry over 60,000 items and occasionally errors in product titles, descriptions, prices, pictures, weight, etc. do happen. But calling it intentional misrepresentation is clearly fales accusation. "Their bait'n'switch was not an honest mistake. It continued for months"? Lies. Our website was corrected within an hour. Other websites? We do not own them an only responsible for our own site. This rant continues for over a year.

Twister group's rebuttal is an outright lie. Their bait'n'switch was not an honest mistake. It continued for months. They must have had a huge inventory of the cheap canon printers and could only unload them by selling them as a superior model. I've done business with hundreds of individuals and business over the last thirty years and never have I encountered a business anywhere near as sleazy, hateful, rude, or as vindictive as twistergroup. Their claim that paypal denied my claim is an outright lie. Paypal returned the money, not twistergroup. Twistergroup has turned the returned money over to a collection agency. Why would they turn to collection something they returned? They can't have it both ways. If twistergroup returned the money, then they can't demand it back in return for the removal of unfavorable postings. That is extortion. Take your pick: either twister group didn't return the money. Or they have committed extortion.

The product title was: "CANON MX300 PIXMA MX700 OFFICE ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER, SCANNER, COPIER AND FAX". It should be obvious to anyone having more than two ounces of brain that there may be mistake. But this person decided not to request clarification but to proceed with an order just to be able to b***h and blame everyone after words. Our website also shows the following header: Mfg Part#: MX300 After direct complaint was received, prepaid return tag was organized to get the product back for FULL refund. Not enough! He wanted more and more. He started making stink everywhere he could. Obviously this person was searching for any discrepancies on website trying to take advantage of any unintentional mistakes made. Hi filed a dispute with PayPal which was denied. Despite this, we still issued a full refund even though this is kind of a gray area. The model number was listed correctly but the title has duplicate model. Timeline: order placed on 12/13/07, delivered on 12/14/07 (we were rated poorly for slow delivery!), prepaid return tag was emailed on 12/16/07, return received on 12/22/07, refund was issued on 1/2/08 (consider all holidays between these dates). By posting this comment the buyer is not accepting our gesture to accommodate this return for full refund, and therefore will be held liable for restocking fee and both ways shipping.

They ignored my request to know which review to modify and have now threatened collection. They feel that refunding my money implied an agreement that I say nothing about their tactics and can't fathom that they advertised sale of an mx700 and entered into a contract to sell one by having 'mx700' in their listing heading. This isn't a simple typographical error as other have reported similar listings.
