Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I took a settlement check for 8k into their branch office in Huntington Beach to cash it. The check was written by an insurance company and the check says payable at Union Bank of California right on the front of it. The Cahier said it was company policy that she could only cash $2500 of it and the rest would have to go on a casiers check and I would have to pay $30 for the casiers check. She said I would have to cash the cashiers check at another location or I could return the next day and repeat the process everyday with an additional $30 charge, partial payment and a new cashiers check. What kinda of retarded policy is this?? Somebody actually gets paid to think this garbage up?

My advise is to boycott any business with horrible customer service. I would never to business with these people if I could avoid it. Their excuse for not cashing the check outright was that they didn't have enough cash. As if $8k is a lot of money. That barely fills up my gas tank :(

Maybe their the next FDIC bailout?

Well 8k is not a ot your correct. However think about it.... how much money do you really think the bank keeps "on hand"and ready to disburse? Typically if you need more than 2k in cash- you need to call the branch in advance and inform them you will be cashing a check for a larger amount. The branch will simply order the cash usually for delivery the following day and you can go cash your check. This is normal. Try even going to a check cashing company- their limit is 500.00, and the remainder will be in a cashiers check. Unfortunatly in this day and age keeping alot of cash available in a branch is not going to happen, that's just reality, and you can thank the crazy people who decide to hold up branches for that. It is done for the safety and security of the employees and the customers, in the case of a robbery.
