I purchased a new home that had an alarm system installed by United Alarms, when I moved in they monitored the alarm then after a year I was told I owed for that ( I was never asked if I wanted and really have no proff if they even monitored it) and I paid and told them to cancel any services. After 6 months I rec'd a bill for another year of monitoring and resent my letter saying it was cancelled, they then sent a letter with threats to give me a bad credit rating if I didn't pay $1500 as they now wanted me to pay for the equipment, I contacted my builder and was informed they paid for the alarm equipment and didn't have any monitoring contracts and that this was just a scam United was running, when I requested copies of the contracts etc I was ignored but they did put a charge on my title for this and I had to at my expense have it removed as it was bogus but I now have to sue them for the legal costs.

It is United Alarm's opinion that this report is a hoax that
is full of false allegations. The individual that wrote this report did not
even identify themselves, and put the business owner's name in the title - this
is not public information, thus we believe this report was written by our
competitors to tarnish our reputation becasue we are seen as a threat. If that
is not the case, and if the individual who wrote this is in fact a customer,
please come forward so we can address your concerns.

United Alarm would never monitor a system without a request
from the homeowner. Further, United Alarm requires every client to sign a clear
contract prior to entering into a monitoring agreement with them. None of
United Alarm's fees are hidden; all information is clearly laid out on the
contract and all United Alarm staff are knowledgeable and willing to answer any
questions in regards to the contract.

Because United Alarm is a security company, a signed
cancellation letter is required to cancel any account. For insurance purposes,
if a cancellation letter is not received, an account cannot be cancelled.
Again, all of these requirements are clealry laid out in the contract. If a
customer fails to send in a cancellation letter, or fails to ensure the
cancellation letter is received, the alarm system will continue to be monitored
and the customer will be liable for payments.

United Alarm has thousands of satisfied customers, which has
been proven time and time again. United Alarm has been recognized for business
excellence by winning the Consumer's Choice Award six years in a row.
