Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This is in response to the other reports about this company. Everything that I have read is exactly what I am going through. I was so happy to see that I am not the only one going throught this horrible experience. I work in collections and I have never seen this kind of collection practices. These people have done exactly what the reports say. They have come to my work the very next day after my due date and don't care who is around! My family members have also been contacted. My poor ailing father has been called and told that I cannot come up with my payment and if he knows where I can borrow the money from.

My payments have not been more than 3 days past my "due date". My husband as gone the the office here locally and asked them to please stop harrassing me at work. They gone as far as telling my husband that they do not know why I have this car because I can't even afford it!

The reason we have gone past the due date sometimes is because of how our pay periods fall. Of course like most hard working people we have to be able to pay ALL of our bills some time.

Anyway I'm going to see an attorney. I have had enough! I know this cannot possibly be legal! My stress level has gone sky high and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

I work in collections and I know for a fact that there are numerous laws and rules in place to protect debtors. There is a 10 day policy regarding collection attempts. Read the following: (( link redacted by ROR)) I've copied and pasted in case the above link does'nt show: My own comments on each can be found in parenthesis: -You are responsible for your debts. If you fall behind in paying your creditors or an error is made on your account, you may be contacted by a "debt collector." A debt collector is any person, other than the creditor, who regularly collects debts owed to others. This includes lawyers who collect debts on a regular basis. You have the right to be treated fairly by debt collectors. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) applies to personal, family, and household debts. This includes money owed for the purchase of a car, for medical care, or for charge accounts. The FDCPA prohibits debt collectors from engaging in unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices while collecting these debts. Your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act: Debt collectors may contact you only between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. ( Watch the clock CAREFULLY and write down the times IF they indeed call before or after the times shown. Some collectors can be a tad overzealous when calling and may not be mindfull of the times they call. Whatever you do....DON'T pick up the phone or they'll just argue with you and tell you they CAN call ) Debt collectors may not contact you at work if they know your employer disapproves. ( This is an honest to god law and I cannot stress how badly the agency were to be screwed if they called you at work and were SPECIFICALLY told to NOT call...Only to call again. This VERBAL request. Laugh at the collector if they claim they need it in writing. This can come from a co-worker, a supervisor, manager, hell...even YOU can take the call....note the time and date of the call for future reference...and firmly TELL the collector that calls to work must cease and desist. God help them if they argue...that means they have'nt listened to you. If they are stupid enough to call again...then guess what? Lawsuit. Yes you will more than likely win. They are screwing with your employment and increasing your chances of getting fired. Again, they would be really REALLY stupid to call again. It's so illegal it's not funny ) Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you. Debt collectors may not lie when collecting debts, such as falsely implying that you have committed a crime. ( *Sigh* This is'nt the movie "Brazil" where you can be imprisoned for a debt. This is'nt the middle ages where you would be put in shackles in the town square and your pants pulled down for the townfolk to laugh at .....Jesus, if a collector yells at you for committing a crime then they KNOW they are screwed and are blowing off steam because you won't pay them. Abuse is illegal. Lying is illegal. Record the call and TELL them you are recording it. If they put up a fight then tell them you won't stop recording...they more than likely will hang up. Or, don't tell them. Record all the calls in secret and turn the tapes over to the local news office. Just think about it. A slow news day. Some guys poor elderly mom is being harassed because they found her name as a relative and can't find him. You have the public sympathy and rage rolled into one. ) Debt collectors must identify themselves to you on the phone. ( Yep, they MUST ID themselves immediately when asked ) Debt collectors must stop contacting you if you ask them to in writing. ( This my friends is the grand daddy of them all. I cannot stress how important and crucial this final step is. I mean, if you are a hard working consumer and have paid your bills on time and are late ONE day only to get harrassed then this is for you. If you are a repeat offender then I can't help you and you probably already know this particular step anyways. lol. The WRITTEN request has, in every state of the union, to be honored without question and without dispute. There is NO WAY to get around it once recieved. Read these steps carefully: 1) Call recieved. ID yourself as the debtor. Listen to what the collector has to say. 2) Quietly write down the date AND the time of the call. Make sure you politely ask for the agencies/companies name to be sure. 3) After listening to the above ask the collector for their mailing address. If they hang up, too bad. You have the date and time of the call. If they tell you the address please write it down. 4) READ the address back to the collector to ensure it's correct. 5) TELL the person that you want the calls to stop for 10 days because you wish to have calls stopped and communications recived by mail ONLY. And tell them a letter is on its way. They have to acknowledge the request. If they argue then FIRMLY tell them again and that this is your right. Don't scream...don't curse. Don't talk about their mamma. Just tell them again. Hopefully they accept this and the calls stop. 6) Okay...now the clock is ticking. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get a one-page typed or neatly written letter telling the company that you want calls for the purpose of collection on a debt, to stop. Put the date, stamp it...whatever. Just make sure your letter is as clear as a Swarovski butterfly. 7) For the love of whatever God you pray to...SEND IT CERTIFIED MAIL. Pay the extra money to ensure the d**n letter is recieved. During this time the calls simply must stop. If they continue then get on the phone and tell them the letter is on its way. Tell the person the DATE the request was put thru. Then hang up. There really is no reason to continue the call. ) Another Link: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/fdc.htm The complaint form: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$. startup? Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 The above links are for legitimate use only. If you are beyond the alloted time allowed for being "late" by definition of terms stated in any contracts agreed to, then you might want to think before submitting anything. Honestly, if you are a repeat offender then I guess the above WILL work for you. But every case is different. Some agencies are real brutal about a debt and when push comes to shove then you must use the above info. YES, you signed on the dotted line however it was for the purpose of getting a credit line, car loan, etc. Not for getting harassed. Just be sure to keep GOOD notes of all calls placed. KEEP every letter you get. AND, if you indeed write to the company for a C&D then watch the phone and if they call again and again after the post office confirms your letter was recieved...then they have trouble on their hands. I happen to know a young lady that worked for a third party company before she got with a legit bank and she witnessed the panic around the boiler room office of her third party employers when a lawsuit was leveled against them for harassment and they had to PAY out a boatload of money. In other words, it works. I'm all about getting money the legal and ethical way. But if some company or cracker box style operation is busting my huevos then may god help them if they are too arrogant and stupid to follow the rules. I pay all my bills on time now..BUT I've been known to be late one or two days so I'm not perfect. But I know the law and so should everyone here.

We purchased a car from a local used car dealer who uses United Auto Credit Corp as a finance company, we should have checked the rip off report prior to purchase, they started harrassing us the very first payment, they have come to our home, our job, called on the phone and we have continously requested that they not bother us and have reminded them that we know when our payment is due. They have become major pains. They repeatedly ask the same questions but cannot answer any. We are not ashamed to admit that our credit is not the greatest but we could have probably gone to a new car dealer and would be treated better than this and trust me, as soon as we can, we will be trading this car in and getting away from United Auto Credit. I can only say this.... Buyer Beware of this company, they are hound dogs.
