Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In 2015 I purchased a 2001 VW Jetta that was over priced at $3999. I didn't look at the blue book value but......  Anyways, I took my son and my brother with me to check out the car. It had nice body work and the inside was clean. We popped the hood and looked at the engine and it was also clean. (I didn't know that they power hosed the engine.) My brother and son took the car on a test drive and when they returned the engine light was on. I questioned it. The dealer, Kyle, said that Jetta's do that sometimes and he would have the mechanic, who was on hand at the dealership, to look at it. He came out with a hand held machine and Kyle directed us to come in the office while the mechanic looked at it.

So while we were distracted in the office to do the paperwork the mechanic did something that made the engine light go off. We stayed there all day trying to get financing and the first red flag was that Kyle said my credit wasn't good. I should have questioned it because that was a lie! My credit has always been in the 700's and he claimed he couldn't get me financing. Ended up with high APR and the bank was in CA. (I was soooo dumb.) Also, he asked if I wanted a warranty on the car and I said no but he put one on it anyways.

Less than a month later the car started jerking and putting. I called Kyle and he informed me I had a warranty and I needed to call the warranty company. I did. The warranty company had me take it to a VW dealership to access the problem. We had to go to another state because we don't have a VW dealer in our area. They said it was the transmission. Then I had to take it to Aamoco to have them replace the transmission. We had to pay an additional $450 to get it fixed. It was at the shop for 7 weeks because the first transmission did not work so they had to get another one.

Then not 4 months later the motor blew. I was so upset that I called Kyle and informed him. He asked if I still had the warranty and I told him I didn't, he acted like "well what do you want me to do?" I filed a complaint with the BBB and called the Attorney General in VA. Now I have a Lemon that I paid almost $5000 for that wasn't worth a penny! It still sits in my yard and I could cry every time I look at it because I am not rich! And I definitely don't have the money to buy a motor for it.

So they mislead me from day 1! Selling me a car that they knew was not going to be operable for a long period of time. The mechanic did something to the car so the engine light would go off and they had a sucker for the car. I paid all that money for a car that I got less than 6 months use out of.

This business does not care about their customers as long as they can sell you a car and get your money they are happy!!!

“I purchased a 2001 VW Jetta that was over priced at $3999”

Your dissatisfaction with the price is a case of buyer’s remorse.

“The dealer, Kyle, said that Jetta's do that sometimes”

Yes, cars do that sometimes… when there is a MAJOR problem.

“the first red flag was that Kyle said my credit wasn't good”

Wrong! The first red flag was the check engine warning light!

“Ended up with high APR”

Your dissatisfaction with the interest rate is a case of buyer’s remorse.

“he asked if I wanted a warranty on the car and I said no but he put one on it anyways”

When you saw that on the agreement you had them remove it prior to signing, correct?

I suppose the attorney general couldn’t assist you because the vehicle is more than 18-months old, correct?

They didn't sell you a lemon.  YOU purchased a 14 year old car with probably well over 100K miles that during the test drive had the Check Engine light come on.  But at least the engine "looked" clean so you figured it must be good..right?

The cost of the car is meaningless as the time to decide if the price is good is BEFORE you buy the car.  They could price $300,000 if they wanted to and it is up to the buyer if they want to pay that much.

The same goes for the warranty, unless you were dumb enough to sign a blank contract the only way they could "sneak" the warranty on there is if you FAILED to read what you were signing.

As a piece of advice.  If this is your families idea of car shopping, I would suggest you NEVER go car shopping again without someone who actually knows what they are doing.
