United Duct Cleaning, Inc Did not replug my freezer after unplugging it. All of my food items spoiled. They stated they would reimburse my husband and I, but soon changed and said they would give us a credit toward another ser Chicago, Illinois
On February 11, 2011 we scheduled United Duct Cleaning, Inc to clean the air ducts in our home. When the workers came to our home, we found out that they are subcontracted and work on commission, like alot of these home-services. They stated that the service we requested is just a basic service and we need a deep cleaning, etc., etc., which of course is 4x's more expensive than the standard cleaning. The standard cleaning which I may add does absolutely nothing, I could've stuck an extension on my vacuum and done the same job.
Needless, to say several days later we smelled a stinch from our sub-level. We went to investigate and open the door, we found our freezer unplug and ill-smelling leakage all over the floor. It took over an hour to clean up all the mess. All of our food items in the freezer was spoiled. We had steak, 15lb. turkey, vegetables, chicken, ground turkey, etc., etc. that spoiled! When we called the manager, we stated it was a honest mistake and we weren't trying to get the workers in trouble. The manager stated he would reimburse us for the groceries. Well, when my husband called at a later date, to see if the check was mailed, he was told that all they could do is credit our account toward another service. I was absolutely livid. I don't care nor need another service! I want the money, I spent on my groceries, so food items can be replaced!
