The Service Rep phoned, "John Clarke", stating I had applied for a credit card, he personally had looked over my application and he was approving me for a Mastercard with a $3,000 limit. My credit is fair, not great, not awful, so this seemed plausible!

A debit from my savings was set up, he stated the withdrawal would be made the next day and the card mailed to me on that Friday to arrive UPS (he said this several times).

When no card arrived, I called the number he gave me. After several calls with no answer, I finally got a human being and left two different messages for Mr. Clarke, as he "works in another building and you don't have his extension number" (how would I if he didn't give one?).

I also called the number given to me by the party, who I now believe was CCPC, to "record" my agreement for the transaction. I spoke with a female who would not put me through to the person who originally recorded my call.

She kept asking for the extension number and I kept repeating I wasn't given one. She stated "Well, I'm not the one making the call, you are." I spoke with her manager, who "explained" that they only recorded the approval for the transactions and I had to call the other number."

Upon doing so I discovered, in a nutshell, Mr. Clarke lied. They were not mailing me anything until August, which I would receive August 9. And then (Lie #2), it was not a credit card, it was an application that I was to mail to the bank and they would mail me a card...in 3 weeks from their receipt of the application.

As the fees were already paid, $299.00, I decided to wait it out.

Today, I received the "package". A bunch of paperwork to buy this and that; an application for a VISA card, which I already have by the way. And, the long-awaited Mastercard application. But wait, this piece of flimsy cardboard, aka application, stated a "stored value Mastercard". So what the heck is that?

I called the sustomer service line number provided and spoke to someone who informed me that I need to put money on the card, essentially pay a bill before I make one, and then...wow...I get to spend the money! I stated I was told (Lie #3)it was "unsecured". (And Lie #4, it came US Mail, not UPS.)

Supposedly, I'll get a refund if I return the package with a copy of my bank statement and a letter explaining my dissatisfaction. We'll see! Meanwhile, I'm filing a complaint with the Attirney General's office in Massachusetts and Maryland.

The biggest stunner was, I was aware of TITANIUM BLUE and FIRST CAPITAL. What I DID NOT know, till my research today through the website of the BBB of Maryland, is these companies ARE ALL AFFILIATED WITH UNITED FINANCIAL - ONE IN THE SAME!!!

When I was ripped-off by United Financial, I didn't know what to do to get my $299 back - of course t\UF was unresponsive. Through consumers on your site who reported similar situations and response to my report, I contacted my bank and told them the story. I filled out a report with them and they credited my account the $299. Thank you all for sharing your stories and thank you to Rip Off Report.

You do not have to return ANYTHING to them, that is a big LIE! They are stalling for time. Go to your bank, file fraud affidavit (unathorized debit) and see if you can get your money back.

THEN FILE COMPLAINTS TO: EVERYONE SHOULD FILE COMPLAINTS, NO MATTER WHO RIPPED THEM OFF!
