Rockville,#2Consumer Suggestion
Wed, July 02, 2008
If I read things correctly, this has been going on far beyond a reasonable time frame. I cannot speak for NV, but I know in many states, the terms of a contract are to be met in a reasonable time frame. If it were me, I would start writing letters to the Better Business Bureau, the State Attorney General, Hyundai, and any other consumer agencies you can think of. Send copies to the dealership as well. Tell each entity that you believe you are entitled to reimbursement of insurance costs associated with a car you did not own but were forced to carry because the dealership would not abide by the terms in the contract (was it written or verbal). Contact a few consumer attorneys in your area, some may be willing to offer a brief consultation at little or no charge. Small claims court may be an option as well (if you really want to go after them) for damages associated with the insurance. It really sounds to me like this dealership knew they could not get you the 7% financing, but told you they would anyhow hoping you would cave and sign at the higher interest rate. If you even sign anything with these people, I would suggest having copies made immediately... or better yet, requesting they have 2 identical copies of the documents so you can sign them both (that way they cannot go back to the office and change anything).

Well, it's now Tuesday, July 1, 2008 and no word on the car or the 7% interest rate they are supposed to get me. After they recinded their contract with me offering me the 9.19%, they should have just closed the deal. This past weekend they could have sold the car I'm sure, and I guess they are still going to keep tagging my credit and trying to do what they can to bring down my credit score by all these inquiries...I haven't looked yet, but I'll bet there are tons! In the meantime, I went by there on Monday and still saw the car sitting there on the lot where I put it. How stupid of them not just tear up those papers and get on with selling the car. If it hadn't been for all of the lies to start with, then I would have happily had the car and been on my way. The other dealership told me that they would give me a refund for the money that the GAP insurance cost in the loan, but now AAA is telling me that they can provide GAP but it will cost me $755.00 for the life of the loan. Of course the dealership said that it was too bad for me. Now how fair is that! I think they knew darn well that they couldn't provide the GAP when I did my own financing, and I think that this is surely a case of fraud. They have already been given the check (I took it there personally) and got a recipt. As far as I'm concerned, they put something on a contract that was paid for and now being recinded on. What am I to do. I think I am getting an Attorney. I just called one, and hope that he will be able to provide me some straight answers to all of this. Will keep you posted as usual!!

Well, it is now Sunday, June 29th, 11:44pm and I am still wondering if United Hyundai is going to call me on Monday and let me know if they have found me 7% financing and not recinded on the original deal (since they are the ones who have the 15 days to make up their mind...not me!) I signed with them last Saturday, June 21st, 2008. At this writing, I am still paying for insurance with AAA and I am going to go by there tomorrow morning (Monday June 30th) to see if the car is still where I left it on their lot in the service department area. At this point I am very fustrated...not only did United Hyundai do me wrong, but now the new car that I bought has problems with financing too. It's a long story, but the bottom line is that I paid cash for the new car, (my bank financed me and I gave them a check) and now they are telling me that the original contract is not valid because THEY made a mistake with the GAP insurance in the contract and I cannot have the GAP insurance. I am not believing this!! I have tried so hard to give my daughter a nice present of a new car with not only one dealership, but two. She has made me so proud of earning straight A's for 11 years and received a letter from the President of the US for her acheivements with her grades. This is the least I could do for her to finish her High School years with a new car. I don't make a lot of money and have to finance a car for her, and yet with all of this crap I am at my wits end with dealerships! Why can't all of them be regulated somehow and we get the best price and no lies! What does it take to make this happen!! I might have gotten ripped off before in a car deal, but this takes the cake! I hope that if anyone reads my "rip-off" report, they will let me kow if there is anyone in Las Vegas who can give me an honest deal on a car for my daughter! She has now seen and driven two cars that both dealerships have given me the shaft on both of the deals!!! I even so much have wrapped up the car with balloons and a bow from the United Hyundai deal and surprised her in front of her friends at 9:55 at night (after spending the entire day at United Hyundai) only to tell her know on Monday that they lied! How does that make me feel as a mother!! I even told United Hyundai my situation and they didn't give one rats ---!!! I will keep you posted on the other situation with the GAP insurance with the other dealership, as I really felt they took care of me a lot better and seemed to know what they were doing! Only time will tell!
