United Medical Network - Joe Langer Scammed my son and I out of $12K Deerfield Beach, Florida
Several years ago I was out of work and I was contacted by a recruiter about a great business opportunity, selling customized health supplements in a protected territory.
We only had to invest $12k and buy our first round of supplies. I was given three references. I was only able to reach two of them and they assured me this was a great opportunity and they had made a lot of money. My son came in with me and we sent a certified check to United Medical Network. I was told that I would be given detailed training but when I showed up at their office the training was the most haphazard thrown together excuse for training I have ever seen.
However we were determined to make this work so I registered as a vendor at the NOrth Carolina Chiropractic Association's annual conference. That cost us another $500. However when we showed up to set up our display ( another few hundred for brochures and graphics for the show) we found another United Medical Network vendor there. It turns out that they had already sold the distributorship to another person as well. That person was just as shocked to see me there as I was to see him. I began calling Joe Langer but my calls were not returned. I contacted one of the references that I was given to see if they would buy my supplies (since according to them they were making loads of money.) They also never returned my calls.
This is a ridiculous scam that the attorney general needs to investigate.
