Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I worked for Universal Forest Products from September 2009 to December 2010. I drove a truck OTR for the most part, but many times I would do regional or local if the company deemed that is what I should do. I worked for my brother(Shipping and Receiving) manager for the entire time until the last two months.
My brother resigned around October 2010 to start his own Trucking company. I guess this irritated the POWERS that BE, because I had it coming, and I didn't see it coming.
I had vacation approved during christmas of 2010 for two weeks. About this time, my brother needed more drivers for his company so I put in three weeks notice after I spent a couple days on vacation.
About 1 day later, the guy that replaced my brother (WES CARTER) called me and said my truck was in the way of something(Doesn't matter what it was, because it was a LIE!), and asked me to overnight the keys to him, so i did.
I came back off of vacation(Which means I traveled from Tennessee to Georgia, 500 miles, I live in Tennessee) to work my last week of work, that i was obligated to do.
I walk in to the office and asked for my load, and WES CARTER told me he didn't have anything for me to haul.  I noticed that every other driver had a load. So, I asked if i could receive my layover pay(as clearly defined in the pay policy). He told me that he don't think he could do this. So, i went went one step further and asked him if I woulod have any loads for the week. WES CARTER said that he doesn't think so, times are rough. So I asked him if i would i would receive layover, as clearly laid out in the pay policy. He said no.
WELL, come to find out that it wasn't his idea to pull this scam on me, it was the plant managers idea after all.
You see the Plant Manager (STEVEN SIMPSON) was once a Production Manager(before getting promoted) at the same time that my brother was the Safety Director. My brother took the job as Safety Director after this plant had went a long time not being OSHA's best friend. He was charged with fixing it. And he did, he took it from the worst to the best and maintained it there for a couple of years. WELL YOU SEE, oh STEVO(STEVEN SIMPSON) didn't like to comply with all that Safety Crap, so my brother would have to go over his head. We'll he didn't like it and after his promotion he told numerous employees that it was "PAY BACK TIME". And that he did, in numerous ways.
So back to the story, OH, STEVO(STEVEN SIMPSON) came over to the Shipping and Receiving office and fed me full of lies. They both told me that I'm a OTR driver and there is not OTR runs. I reminded them that im only OTR when they want me to be. They said that I should probably just turn in everything and leave. I said ok, thank you.
