Universal Media Consultants offered me what I thought was a business opportunity.  In signing up with this company I was charged $5200 on Jan/28/2014.  I first talked to Marvin Dixon who charged me a $200 fee and then introduced me to Alex Moore.  The salesman (Alex Moore) was very insistent that I would earn a lot of money.  He mentioned that there would be coaching services and I would get my own website.  I mention my situation to him but that didn’t seem to matter.  They had the solution.

According to the contract I was suppose to get a website and coaching. The contract doesn’t say exactly what I was supposed to receive.  It does say that I purchased an Advertising Campaign theeliteshoppingconnection/moran6361 with 10,000.  The 10,000 meant how many shoppers they guaranteed I’d get in one year.  The rest of the promises were told to me in the selling speech.  They said that there would be success and led me to believe that it would be very soon.  I mentioned my problem and they said that this would make my wife happy when I started to earn money and that I would be able to pay off my credit card after a few short months. This seemed like a guarantee for me.  I wanted to start a business, being laid off since 07, and they made it sound like this was going to save me.  They said that the site was going to appear on several websites where I would get the most visitors.

I couldn’t sign the contract fast enough.  As the emailed contract and papers to sign came in Alex couldn’t stop talking about what an opportunity this was for me.  I expressed doubts and talked of canceling but he just kept promoting the site.  He would not take no for an answer.

Marvin Dixon was the sign up guy.   He’s with the onlinebusinessbureau.com. He charged me $200.  He said that this was a good business to get into and when I succeeded I could make a promotional video telling how pleased I am with Universal.  Then he connected me with Alex for the rest of the contract signing.

The services that they offered as far as coaching was fair.  I had a hard time getting them to return my calls.  But they finally did.  The coaches that helped me (Vivian and Amber) were ok but I got the feeling that they didn’t know that much.  Their big thing was to tell the client to read the online help that they supplied.  When I needed help putting ads on my site their computer knowledge was limited.  Most of the time I figured things out for myself and when I made a mistake I’d email them and it would take about a week for them to straighten my site out.  The wordpress that they used was difficult if you didn’t know the HTML language.

I worked on the website and learned a lot on how to copy and paste.  After I’d make changes to the site I really thought that I was going to start making money.  But I got maybe 5 clicks a month and no sales.  They did not promote my site.  I was told that I’d have to do that myself.  The promoting cost me more money where I thought Alex said that I’d have no more charges.  As time went on my site was hard to log on too.  My password wouldn’t work and I’d have to call them to get me in again.  This usually took about a week’s time.  Then finally in August I was really having trouble getting into my site and again I called them.  After many calls I finally got a hold of someone who told me that my site was down.  It had been down for several weeks.  They said that they were changing it to a blog site and that it would be another week before they could get me going again.  They called me back and gave me a new domain name shopandbroze.com.  I got into the site but I couldn’t figure out how to work it.  As of today I still haven’t gotten a call to instruct me.

I tried to cancel a couple days after I signed up.  Alex told me that I was too late.  I argued with him but nothing changed.  I then saw my website and figured I’d try to make the best of it.  After that I never talked to Alex again even though I called him many times.

Ever since I signed on with Universal I’ve felt that it’s not worth the $5200.  I felt stuck with mediocre services.  There were no training sessions with a coach.  The most I got was a question answered and then told to read the online information.  I thought I was going to get regular coaching sessions.  The downtime on my site was huge.  Every time my site went down it was minimum of 3 to 5 days before it was up and running again.

Universal Media Consultants has misrepresented their services.  This company owes me a full refund due to the problems listed in the above letter.

Everytime someone makes me aware of one of these reports concerning Universal Media Consultants, I feel the need to make sure that people go after the write company. Use your state and local government to do so. File in small claims court, etc. Just please make sure that you have the right company!

Below is a response that one of the representatives from Ripoffreport was nice enough to post when this happened several times in the past. I am reposting it so that those filing new complaints will not confuse the two seperate companies.

<<

There are numerous reports that this company (Universal Media Consultants LLC in Florida) is connected to another company named, Web Knowledge LLC (in Arizona). According to complaints on this website and others, the company/ companies promise and offer Search Engine Optimization and help setup Amazon affiliate accounts for its clients. In almost every complaint, the client either pays for the service and never receives what what was promised OR, is hit with a credit card charge much larger than what what agreed upon.

When victims attempt to contact the company, they are ignored or the company fails to honor its refund policy. The real problem lies in that there is another legitimate company that is legally named Universal Media Consultants LLC and is registered in the state of Alabama. Many victims are mistakenly assuming that the two companies are one and the same and are filing complaints against the legitimate Universal Media Consultants LLC located in Alabama and doing business in Los Angeles CA.

While the Florida company continues to rackup complaints, the Alabama company has never had a single complaint but is being forced to waste time explaining to victims, that they are not the company that the victim has a relationship with, and furthermore does not even offer the same services. Aside from having the same registered name, part of the confusion stems from the companies similar website url.

The Universal Media Consultants LLC drawing the complaints, is located at http://www.universalmediaconsultantsllc.com

The legitimate Universal Media Consultants LLC opperates under two websites http://www.universal-media-consultants.com and http://www.universalmediaconsultants.com and is run by Thomas “Philip" Cardwell

Unless you are paying very close attention, you may not notice the "llc" located in the website url of the suspect company. The only advice is for those who feel that they have been victimized, to contact the BBB and also stop payment for the services whenever possible.

Above all, make sure that you lodge your complaint against the correct company and not the Universal Media Consultants LLC located in and registered with the state of Alabama. >>
