Today my car was repossessed by Capital Adjusters by request of University Federal Credit Union. My payment is due on the 20th and today is the 24th, so I admit that I'm late. But who has EVER heard of a credit union repoing a car for being ONLY 4 days late.

I found out my car was gone this morning and as a result I was unable to get to work. Because I missed a day of work, not only did it affect my pay, but I missed an interview for a promotion I was supposed to get. The company I work for is very strict about attendance and I most defiantly will not receive the promotion now.

I was not called and warned regarding the repo. If I was warned, despite how ridicules it is to repossess a car that is 4 days late, I most definitely would have figured out a way to pay it.

This company prides itself about it's Wheels 101 Buyer's Program to help educate buyers about the car buying program. What they really need to do is educate the consumer to do business with a real bank. A real bank won't even begin to try and repossess a loan unless it's over 90 days late. A real bank would offer payment deferrals if you get behind to help in extenuating circumstances. None of these options were offered to me.

In reality, it's not the money that was a problem, it was the time. I work 15hr work days. I go to work before UFCU opens and I get off after they close. All my other bills are always paid on time, but UFCU is the only bill I have that does not offer any remote payment options. My branch is all the way across town so I can't make it there on my lunch break so I have to wait until my day off to go pay the bill.

Can you believe that UFCU does not have any kind of online bill pay for their loans? You can't even pay your loan over the phone unless you have an account with them internally.

The ironic thing is that if you become a day late a woman named Frances Zahirniak will call you and say all sorts of threats to you, and try to belittle you into making the payment over the phone. If youre a day late UFCU will take your third party bank information and charge you a huge fee to process it over the phone. But, if you call customer service and try to make the payment over the phone on time, you can't even pay a huge fee to pay the note over the phone. They will clearly tell you that your ONLY option to pay with a third party bank is to come into a branch and pay. Maybe this is how they punish you for using a bank other than their own.

To top things off, I just took a look at my credit report and UFCU has been reporting me every month for being over 30 days late on my payments. This is a completely FRAUDULENT statement because today is the latest I've ever been. 4 DAYS LATE. In the past I've been a day or two late, but never have I been 30 days late.

It's a shame that theirs not stricter laws in the state of Texas to protect us from corrupt, power abusing bankers like UFCU. My suggestion to us all is NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH UNIVERSITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION! Do business with a REAL bank!
