Complaint Review: University Of Phoenix Axia College Apollo Group - San Diego California

I am currently a student at Axia. this is only my second block of classes. I am not sure what to think as of yet, the work is so simply my 14 year old daughter could do what I have done so far. I have been out of school for 15 years, I have not been refreshed on a single thing nor have I leared anythere as of yet. I sure hope the 795.00 I pay per class isn't just to purchase the degree. I personally do not like the format of the classes, I mean ok so I will post my discussion question replys, but why in the heck do I have to post 2 responses to my class mates replys, most of the class mates I have had so far are no posting anythign worth replying to. Exactly how many papers do we have to write here, I mean come on where are the tests and other assignments at? I will let you all know when i determine if they are a rip off or not and I would like to hear everyone elses input as well. Thanks for your time someone in Oklahoma

I just received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix. My experience was nothing but positive. It was not an instant degree program but required a tremendous amount of work in order to complete all of the assignments. Mark, what is exactly is your experience? Is it one of those instant degree programs? Apparently the institution of higher learning in which you gained this so-called experience did not include training in grammar or spell check. Please let me know the name of this institution so that no one who reads this forum will make the mistake of enrolling there.

Mark- I think that is is very noble that you want to warn people about the dangers of long distance learning. However, Your term instant degree is insulting. I worked my behind off for that degree and found that the work load was heavier then the first masters degree program which was traditional. I did not recieve any emlpoyer assistance, I paid. With the masters degree from UOP I was accepted into every traditional doctoral program I applied.

I worked in that enviroment for over three year. I have one quest for you. Since to stated that you received your masters from The University of Phoenix, did you receive you Associates and bachelors from the University of Phoenix. My expereince with financial Aid and a Master degree is that you are given more than what is neccessary. I am only looking out for those who are mis-guded by this instant degree. I would bet that you had some sort of Employee tuition assistance,

I am so sorry to hear that your experience at UOP was not good. I graduated from UOP with a masters degree and have had nothing but great expereinces with the school. The work was heavy and tuition was high but I made sure to read all paperwork before it was signed and faxed back.

Axia College will enroll the student whether their financial aid is clear or not. While I worked at axia I did see instances where students where coached by Military Admissions Counselors while Filling out the Fafsa Application. On some ocassions the stdents would be enrolled, in class before their Financial Aid had been certified. If after certification descrepencies were found they would be taken out of class. I could never understand How the University could give this false hope to a student then inform him or her that he would have to seek other means to pay for their tuition cost.

Honey, I really feel for you with you being a mom we know you can't afford this. The fact that UOP pulled another one is of little suprise. The question I have is why didn't you smell it coming? They wouldn't need to take out loans if it would be covered by a grant. Everyone can get loans if your poor enough but you have to meet very strict guidlines to recieve grants. They would tell you specifically what grants you qualify for if any. If they couldn't answer that you know it's a lie and no grants are coming. I wish you the best but you really need to open your eyes next time. Best of luck resolving this. J - Charleston SC
