Im finally fed up with the University of Phoenix. (Axia Online College) I didnt realize how expensive this school was. Until 2 weeks prior to my start date, which was November 3, 2008. My enrollment advisor was Domingo Young. My financial advisor was Patrick Pettis. So I decided to withdraw and cancel all courses. I found it real simple to withdraw at first. My advisor Mr. Young told me that he would take care of it all. Nothing to worry about. Wrong, not the case at all. I was withdrawn from my courses but not withdrawn from the school. It wasnt till I spoke with my new Advisor at AIU. In which I found out that some of my financial aid had been disbursed already. Disbursed to University of Phoenix. So I said to self, no problem. I will just call and get this all cleared up. Not the case again, Instead I experienced the run around. No one knew who I was supposed to speak with to get a withdrawal form and an Officiall Cancellation Form. My own advisor couldnt even help me. It wasnt until I got irate is when my Financial Advisor pointed me in the right direction. So I fax everything in on Nov. 19, 2008 to Financial Aid Processing Center. I was then told that the process would take up to 48hrs at the most. So I waited until 21st of nov. to call. Still not processed. I called for the whole week and no one could tell me anything. By then you could only imagine my migraine headache. So finally here it is December 1, 2008, weeks later. I call and speak to first the financial advisors, the student services dept, and then the certification center. Now I have to wait 30 Days before my withdrawal form will be completely processed. Then will have to wait to receive confirmation of that process in a letter thru the mail. Will I even be guaranteed my refund back for days I didnt even attend. 2,365.00!!!! What is up with this college. Why are they ripping off families? Who can I report them to? We need to put them out of business!!!!!!!! DOES THIS REFUND POLICY APPLY TO ME?OR IS IT MORE RUNAROUND B.S.

REFUND POLICY

Because our courses are designed for working adults, we realize that unforeseen circumstances can arise that might require you to interrupt your studies. As long as you notify us prior to the day of your first class session that you won't be able to attend a scheduled class for which you have paid, we will refund 100 percent of the tuition collected for that course. In the event you are forced to leave a course you have already started, there are a number of options available to you, both academic and financial. Naturally, how much of the class has been completed and the academic progress achieved, along with your state of residence, will influence which options will be suitable for you. For complete details, see your student catalog.

To all of you on here speaking about your issues regarding UOP: First an foremost I am sorry for your negative experiences, issues and and turmoil it has caused you. Its heart breaking to see that. I am just an average guy reading through these case studies doing some research. Here are the facts. College has been around a VERY long time. The traditional programs with full class schedules, commitments and classroom engagement cannot be replaced with a computer, unqualified students and overzealous administration - "for profit." 60% of the value of the likes of say Harvard, or other top schools IS THAT OF the engagement with like minded, intelligent peers and the interaction with QUALIFIED Professors! (NOT INSTRUCTORS - BIG DIFFERENCE!) The MAIN point that no one wants to mention is that NOT ALL PEOPLE are meant to go to college. Sorry, I know that's not what you all want to hear. This is exactly the opposite they tried to sell you. Can you imagine if EVERYONE had a degree, and equally as valuable as one from a top institution? Honestly, could you? What would it be worth then???? I mean think about it for ONE second! This was all a big scheme made up by a big corporation that found a "gap" to fill and make TONS of money on, while convincing Congress that they will be "helping" the middle class, because this is what they WERE pitching to get all this money. I came from a poor family. Worked hard, took the GMAT, busted my hump and went to a top 20 college for graduate school. Its what you make of it. But the name DOES certainly help...it is also an investment. UOP is NOT a good one. The name is NOT a good one. The name will NOT open doors. That name does NOT have value to all these "fortune 500" companies these counselors speak of. I know, BECAUSE I WORK FOR ONE! And if I see some "online" profile come through....just stop for one SECOND and think where that one goes? Yup...you answered correctly and I don't even have to say it. Consider this tough love. This is the reality of it. It has been a SHELL game all along with the full blown "smoke and mirrors" game. I hope you all get some sort of reprieve, I REALLY do. As i said above its heart breaking. But this needed to be said. And those that say otherwise....their fools. Do me a favor. Go to a MAJOR school campus (and Arizona State is not major - for those of you UOP in AZ, sorry, but true) Go to say Stanford, or USC, or UCLA, or whatever.....pick your poison, and just ASK Professor's or students what they would think of that. You will quickly see that I am not wrong. I truly hope the best.... Mr. Dose of Reality

What is funny is that you will go to AIU because they are more expensive than University of Phoenix. I know because I was an AIU student at one time. I left because their Accreditation was on Academic probation. This is a fact... check it out. You never had to owe for the classes at UOP because you never attended. You put University of Phoenix on your FAFSA so that is where the money went. You are pretty stupid to think that the money will not go there. After the University of Phoenix gets the money they have two weeks to return it to the bank lender. Which is what happened. People like you are funny because of your ignorance. You do not know anything about financial institutions or education yet you blog about it. Well good job you will be going to a more expensive school and have more out of pocket money. I guess you will be somehow saving money in your mind. By the way, AIU doesnt even hold a specialized business accreditation like UOP so I hope you are not getting a business degree because it will not hold the same value and you will pay more for it.
