I purchased a wall bookshelf in April of 2010. I rented a truck for $40.00 to pick up the item. It was covered in thick plastic and I noticed a wheel on the ground beside the truck. I asked the employee if it was a part of the bookshelf. He seemed confused and said no, however, after looking under the piece realized in fact that it was missing a wheel. He put the wheel back on and said "it is fine". After getting the bookshelf home and placing it against the wall. a friend Juan Silva and myself unwrapped it.We were shocked to see holes and numerous scratches on several sections of the unit. I placed pieces of pottery and art over the damage to see if I could cover it up. As I was on teh phone trying to contact Urban Home, to let them know of the damage, the bookshelf tipped over (due to the damaged wheel). I was able to catch it with my forehead and shoulder before it fell to the floor, however, it hit my head, causing a bruise, slight damage to my leather sofa and broke 3 pieces of pottery/art. I spent the next 4 months trying to resolve this issue and getting FAIR compensation. I sent photos e mails and spoke to over 8 employees (Jan, Carina, Ana, Ralph, Cynthia, Annie, Nicholas and Paula). I was originally told that I would get a store credit in the full amount. I agreed and was happy with this. I was later told that this was incorrect and would not be possible. The employee was not approved to make this decision. I did not ask for money for damages to the sofa or pottery/art pieces. I just wanted and felt it fair to receive $100.00 to $150.00 (when asked) to cover expenses to fix the bookshelf and time spent. They would only agree to a $50.00 credit and refused to give me the CEO's name, address or how to raech them.
