If you are thinking about driving for US Xpress this is what you need to know,

                I am trying to save any driver from making the same mistake I did as an experienced driver that was forwarned about driving for this company. Please beware.

                I started working for US Xpress again in August of 2011 because I worked for them in the 80’s and 90’s, and back then they were a great company to work for. When I took the job in 2011, I felt I was selling myself short, and I was over qualified for this position because US Xpress in most experienced truck drivers eyes is considered to be a substandard place of employment because of the company’s reputation of hiring new drivers out of school and the equipment is not the best, but I decided to take the job on a temporary basis until I found my dream job not driving a truck because I had just earned my Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Transportation and needed to start paying my student loans. I have been in the transportation industry for 26 years, and  I am very proud of my accomplishments. I have done everything that can be done in this industry from brokering freight, dispatch, planning, logs, safety, and CEO, but mostly driving which I do enjoy and I have a perfect safety record with no tickets, perfect psp and csa scores, and I was a trainer for US Xpress.

                Things at US Xpress were not as bad as I had expected until my birthday. I was at home for home time enjoying a swim party my family had put together for me. I had gotten several text messages on my cell phone from a number I was not familiar with. I finally around noon asked the unknown person to reveal their self. It took some time, but I was able to get the person to reveal he was the security guard at the US Xpress yard. I asked him how he got my number, and he told me a little bird told him. Right then I felt unsafe and violated, and I found out later he found my number by putting my truck number in on the US Xpress screen. He obtained my cell phone number illegally and without my permission. Then when I told him it was my birthday, and I was spending time with family, he sent me a picture of him and his p***s and told me Happy Birthday, and the nightmare did not stop there. I did not answer anymore of his text, and my family and I tried to enjoy the rest of the day. The guy kept texting until Midnight saying things like answer me, where do you live, talk to me, please, do you like my pic. My phone was left unattended and my grandson who is 9 years old had picked up phone to play candy crush, and I do not know if he seen the very graphic picture, but he wrote back to the US Xpress security guard telling him this was not my grandmother, it is her grandson. My family and I had discussed the matter and I decided to not tell US Xpress because I was scared of the problems it would cause with my job, and I tried to  forgot about it.

                That happened on a Saturday, and on that next Tuesday Human Resources called me asking me about the situation. Somebody had called and told them what the security guard did, but I could not get them to tell me who reported it. They told me it was anonymus.They routed me to Tunnel Hill, GA telling me I had to give a statement, and I could not get a load(the only way drivers make money) until I wrote the statement.   I have to run the truck to make money, so I have human resources what they wanted. Then, I was told about a week later I needed to sign another paper so they could close this case, and they sent me a form that stated I was the harasser. my heart dropped because I know for fact that I am not the harasser. So, I called immediately and questioned human resources motive. They laughed and apologized and said we will send you the right form, and they did but I did not sign it because me environment at US Xpress had become hostile, and the form they wanted me to sign was releasing them of liability. While at the US Xpress yard, a yard jockey tried to hit me with his truck on several occasions, the guys in the dispatch office were laughing when I was around, and I started having panic attacks because when I was in the ladies bathroom, I realized this was where the security guard took naked pics of himself. The stress was more than I could handle. I reported this to Human resorces and they did nothing. My miles dropped which caused me pay to drop, my truck kept breaking down, my father ended up in hospital with complications from his heart and having surgery, my granddaughter got pneumonia, my aunt who is like my 2nd mom had fell and broke her leg she is 82 years old, and my favorite fleet manager and I was having tension from all this drama. US Xpress started sending me to places that were known for very long load times. I was being black balled by most of the people with any authority. My whole work environment had changed tremendously. I started falling behind on my mortgage and other bills because my truck has been in the shop almost every week. My fleet manager tried to get me another truck while my truck was in Fort Wayne, IN but I was 18 miles away from truck, and my fuel card was in my truck. He wanted me to get some money he had put on card, get a taxi, go to airport rent a car, then go unload my truck which takes hours, and drive about 200 miles to get an abandoned truck which probably was trashed, and there was an unseated freightliner there at the dealership where my truck was being serviced that had been there fixed for about a week. The logistics on that did not make since, and I was told by the shop fixing my truck that I could not remove anything from my truck because of insurance reasons. For those that do not understand, it is like moving in and out of an apartment. I had tv, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, clothes, mattress, and much, much more because drivers live in their trucks.  I had to go down to the shop where my truck was because US Xpress stopped paying for my room and I was left on my own. NO money, no truck, no room. My truck was on blocks and all the steps were removed with the whole fueling system. So again, I was lworking in a hostile environment.

                In all this drama, Human Resorces called me on the phone one day because I could not get my fleet manager to talk to my on phone, on driver tech (Qualcomm), and I was again left on my own to figure out my own problems. I had no one on my side. She asked me if I was willing to change fleet managers, and I said I guess, is this what my fleet manager wants. She said yes, and I said well ok, and while you are at it please put me in a totally different fleet. Maybe I will get some respect. This was a big mistake because I ended up in Shane Austin’s fleet and he had it out for me and I am presuming it is because of the whole sexual harassment issue that ended up at this point. He sat on the phone one day and tried to convince me to quit, and he was saying things like "I know how unhappy you are, your really need to quit, and maybe you will be happier somewhere else. That day I almost quit, but after I thought about it, I told him no, I am not going to be forced out of job just because you want my to leave. They lied to me and I was getting very depressed that the whole sexual harassment issue had got me to a very low place in my life.  Driving a truck is a very stressful job, but US Xpress makes sure that the driver has more stress by not answering phones, not answering messages on driver tech(Qualcomm), lying about hometime, cutting hometime short, leaving drivers hanging all weekend without freight, treating driver subhuman. In all my 26 years of driving, US Xpress is the worst company to drive for.  Most of the people working at US Xpress are not qualified to do the jobs they have been designated. They are kids out of high school because US Xpress does not want to pay professionals.   Because Shane Austin's job was to force me out of the company because I would not sign the release of liability on the sexual harassment, he spent the next few day trying to provoke me. He decided to let me know he was not going to let me go home for my hometime after I was already approved for it. I told him that I needed to pickup my prescription glasses because the Doc called and she said they could not hold them long because her space was limited. Then Shane tried to say I was driving illegally because I did not have my prescription glasses. I explained to him they are prescription reading glasses, not driving glasses. He said he had never heard of such. US Xpress took away my load going to Ohio in Virginia that I had picked up in South Carolina. Then they would not tell me what was going on. Shane would not answer my calls, messages, or nothing. After Shane left, Nighttime dispatch told me that before I could get another load I had to go to Knoxville and get my glasses. So I did as I was told. When I got to the house a lady from safety called me and told me I was suspended from driving. The next day I called US Xpress and told them I have my glasses now please get me a load and they  refused that was on 08/09/13. They left me in suspended status until 08/16/13 when they told me I had been terminated, but they refused to pick-up truck from my driveway until the evening of 08/20/13.I called them on numerous occasions and offered to take the truck and trailer to the yard just to get the truck out of my driveway, but they refused to let me drive truck. I had drove for them this time 2 years and a week with no accidents, incidents, tickets or any thing. They still to this day have not picked up my trailer.  I asked them why I had been terminated and they said I am an unsafe driver. 

                I really feel like US Xpress is trying to make my life miserable because of the sexual harassment issue, and it has spiraled to where we are today. I have no job, I am behind on my bills, and I am stressed to the max. I am trying to support my family and US Xpress has made it impossible.  This is one big mess where I feel I am alone against everyone at US Xpress. They are a huge company, and my warning is to other potential drivers out there considering this company. I can tell you there are many companies out there that will treat you so much better than this one.
