Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have read reports about USX, CR ENGLAND, SWIFT, ETC.... I have even written a report on CR ENGLAND on this website.

But something you all must UNDERSTAND, it's business, it's not personal.

EVERY trucking company has its own brand of "BS", it depends on which brand is yours and to your liking. Kiinda like beer, ya know? "Taste great, less filling."

I team drive for US XPRESS and have found that everyone I talk to that is either on the corporate level or below is extremely hospitable and willing to help you fix whatever situation may or may not arise.

You want to blame someone for your problems in this day and age? Call your congressman. The United States Government is what is wrong with the trucking industry, believe it or not, not the individual trucking companies themselves. They are held to a standard just like "we" as professional drivers are held to a standard.

You, as a prospective employee, MUST be 100% honest, leave nothing to guess or nothing open. If you think for one minute that this prospective employer will not hire you, then ask what their company policy is on this particular situation.

US XPRESS is VERY selective about who they put behind the wheel of their trucks. And their safety rating reflects this selectiveness. 70% safety rating, the last time I checked. And if you know anything about the safety scale this is excellent. Go check other companies safety ratings and see what you find, such as CR ENGLAND. Don't believe me? Ask a DOT officer the next time you stop at a scale. I got my iinformation from the safety website and from a Wyoming Port of Entry DOT officer.

These companies DO NOT promise you employment, it's a screening process. Just like a job interview. You either get the job or you don't. I see all the complaints againist USX and I "see" the whole picture. You want to complain, I challenge you to go to CR ENGLAND and work for those hypocrits for 2 years, USX will look like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

It's simple, do your job, be professional, no matter who you work for, bad day or fight with the spouse or fleet manager? Leave it in the truck where it belongs!! The best advice I can give anyone is to read your companies driver handbook. It will tell you what to do in any given situation. Have questions? Pick up a phone and call someone. Got a complaint? Then take it to the proper supervisor and get it resolved. Works for us.

Truck driving is not easy, no matter what anyone tells you or what you may think. YOU, as the professional driver have been entrusted by your state you reside in, the US dept. of trans., your family, my family and by the company you are employed with, to safely and with due regard to others, operate a commercial vehicle. It takes less than a heartbeat to make a mistake with one of these monsters, and a lifetime to forget that mistake.

These companies don't have to care about you, your family or your plights in life. They do however care about the job your doing, if you are performing to theirs and their customers satisfaction, if you are taking care of their equipment and their freight.

We have 100% on time delivery with USX, we stay out a month at a time, we represent USX with courteousy and professionalism at ALL times, and our FM knows this, so when we ask to go home, guess what? They get us home. Alls this company asks is to do your job, be a professional, operate the truck in a safe manner, and you know? If you do these things, you might be surprised at the outcome.

REMEMBER, IT'S BUSINESS, IT'S NOT PERSONAL!!!!

Safety Rating

#2Consumer Suggestion

Tue, April 14, 2009

US Xpress, when compared to other comparable sized carriers, does have an excellent safety rating, but I don't know what "70 percent" means....the overall safestat result is 54 on a scale of 0 to 100, 100 being the worst and 0 the best....comparably CR England's is 99 and Prime Inc is 100!! Equipment for all 3 Carriers is rated about 33 with the Driver's at USX at 54....while the Equipment for Englad and Prime is about 33 also the Driver's safestat ratings are about 100!! These guidelines help DOT officers decide who to inspect and anything over 75 is a MUST INSPECT, while 50 to 75 is "worth a look" and below 50 (like our 33 here at Landstar) is "Do not mess with". That being said, as a Landstar driver who looks at the same freight base every day that USX and all other big trucking company types look at, the rates for short haul solo's far surpasses the availability and rates for teams in this current economy, as demand falls and JIT becomes a priority. What about that decision of Team or Lease?

I have a friend who was with US Xpress and he told me the same thing. Some folks prefer to run solo; mainly for safety or health reasons (non-smokers).Why force, or push, good drivers out the door simply because they chose to run solo? How about some solo drivers responding to this question.

So when they tell you to come to the terminal and surprise you with "lease, team, or leave" it's somehow not personal??? Who pays YOUR bills? I'm happy that USX is good to you. They were good to me too and I was happy to work for them. But their poor handling of this situation was inexcusable. Period. And when a company slaps you in the face and spits on you on the way out, sorry, it's personal.
