Vanderbilt Mortgage & Finance Vanderbilt Mortgage does not give a d**n about it's customers. Vanderbilt Mortgage will screw you. Ripoff Maryville Tennessee
Several years ago, my wife & I made the terrible mistake of refinacing our mobile home through Vanderbilt. I can only hope that this story will be a warning to other people. I can assure you - you do not want the headache & heartache associated with Vanderbilt Morgage Company.
After living in our home for about 5 years, we decided to move on, and attempted to sell. After two years of frustration, we finally found a person to assume our loan. We even made the required $1000 down payment for this buyer, signed the contract, and went on our way. 2-3 days later, we get a phone call! As it turns out, we were still liable for the mortgage, and the assumee was late!
I would never, ever, ever signed that contract if I would have understood. Yes, my trust & my ignorance is my fault, but when you place your trust in a company holding something so valuable as your home mortgage, you can only hope that they have enough respect to explain such "minor" details.
Vanderbilt then informed me that I could request to have my name removed from the loan in one year. So, I waited my year (with no further issues of payment) and requested the removal. I was graciously informed that, because the assuming party was not always "on time", I would have to pay them $2000 in order to have my name removed.
As of this current date, the trailer has been moved, and the owner is not reachable at any of the supplied numbers. I have no idea where they are, or where my former home is located, yet I remain the unwilling guarantor of a loan I have absolutely no control over. This issue is a cloud over my family - the likes of which I would wish on no one.
