Depending on the scratches you could probably buff them out yourself. Didn't you test drive the car and park it under some lights to see what it looked like before you started negotiating?? Sounds like a case of buyers regret not a ripoff.

I don't think the dealership was required by Texas law to provide you with KBB information on their car. For that matter, they aren't required to provide you with a CARFAX report either, though usually a reputable dealer will. What they told you about KBB is actually true, they do not use it for determining value. The "other source" would actually be the Dallas Car Auction, which is the authority on such things in your part of the world. That being siad, I'm sure they would be more than happy to appraise your car at KBB value, as long as you are OK with purchasing thiers at retail KBB value. If your gonna use it, use it for both sides. As far as the scratches go, there aren't many used cars that arent scratched. Scratches are not covered under car manufacturer's warranties, because they are always caused by user error. At the time you bought the car, I'm positive they presented you with an "as is" or "we owe" form. If you signed them without noting scratch repairs, I'd say you're pretty much legally beat. The moral of the story is this: Dont rush into buying something that you are not sure about. If there is a problem with the car and you buy it anyhow, have something in writing with the dealership agreeing to make it right. One other thing to think about; if it took that dealership an hour to get a good interest rate with your 750 credit score, they probably got you on the financing as well. It usually takes about 10 seconds to get the best terms possible with that kind of score. Your acceptance would have been automatic from any lending instituation they sent it to and done over a computer.

If you do not get it in WRITING, and it must be signed by a Manager of the Dealership, you are OUT OF LUCK! Do not believe anyone when the goal is MONEY!
