When signing up for Verizon new Fios service, I signed up for a contract for $74.99 a month for the first 3 months. Well, I get my first bill and it is over $135. When signing up for the service the customer service agent told me that Verizon cannot seem to ever get their billing correct and that I truly watch my bill EVERY MONTH to make sure I get billed correctly.

So I called them and they adjusted my bill. Gave me some "story" about their billing. WHATEVER. Then he adjusted the bill. What happens to those people who aren't responsible and DO NOT check their bills because they think the company is honest and ethical. What happens to those people? Well they get screwed and Verizon gets their money. WATCH OUT!

Economically, it appears that Verizon is attempting to pad their quarterly earnings. It is not coincidence, that most of the problems surrounding Verizon have occurred recently (after the US economic collapse). High bills, failure to give promised promotional items, all adds up to one thing. Padding the quarterly earnings to try and appease investors. They will probably try to help give you money back...not all at once...and probably not until they publish their public accounting ledgers. Expect any refunds to be split over a 6 month or longer period, so they can spread their losses. A lot of their customer service agents are mad. Maybe their jobs were threatened if they don't willingly trick customers. Sky is the limit for why Verizon is jacking around with their consumers.
