I am an employee of Victoria's Secret and can tell you that any free gifts (bags, etc) are while supplies last. I think you're talking about the Black Friday bags, they would not have been available before Black Friday. If you're talking about these bags, I know for a fact that those bags are usually gone within a couple hours of opening, they are while supplies lasts, and on a first come first serve basis. People go crazy over these bags. Gift with purchase items of this nature can never be held for anyone (handicapped or not) whether it be on the phone, or in person in the store. I think you are taking the situation too personally, as the bags could not have been held for anyone, regardless of their circumstances. Also, the stores operate are a completely separate company from the online and catalog ordering systems. The clerk on the phone can not be expected to know what's going in the stores, and I don't see how she lied to you by telling you that the bags were not available on Tuesday, and would not be until Friday.

You're right!! It's these people (here at ripoff) that want me to keep these guys angry. Along time ago, I wanted to take my complaint off, but due to the laughs and at my expense they wouldn't. Thanks for your ad. Maybe they will now!!!! I have cried enough tears lately, and don't need more. I don't think I have to defend myself to these people and to VS also. Thanks again... Darla

It does not present you in the greatest light to be reacting like a firecracker to the reactions to your letter. If you can't handle their reactions, don't come back here to read them. It is not discrimination, because they very probably do not hold bags for anyone. It would only be discrimination if they wouldn't do something for YOU, that they WOULD do for a person without a broken leg. Since you can't prove that, and it's very likely not the case, it's not discrimination. Oh, and you're not "disabled" either. You have a temporary injury. This is not a disability. You very likely offended everyone who has lost a leg or is in a wheelchair with that claim. I speak from experience, having recently broken a hand. Did I ask for a mobility display card for my car? Well no. A few broken bones is not a disability. Like the above, I'm shocked that you claim that you cannot afford anything other than free gift bags for your daughters, in the same post where you are purchasing nearly $300 worth of lingerie for yourself. You should be ashamed of yourself. Since you're cancelling the order, spend the $275 on your daughters and get them some real presents.

Darla, Let me quote something from your last post: "This Christmas I wanted to get gift bags for my daughters. That is all I could do this year for them - due to these circumstances." So what your are saying is that you are willing to spend $275 on lingerie for yourself, but only give your daughters some (probably cheep) free gift bags that you would have gotten with your order? Boy, you really slay me! I sure am glad I have a mother who actually loves me enough to buy me something for Christmas, rather than "regifting" me some free item she got. Oh, and you were not discriminated against. First, you are not handicapped (except maybe mentally?), you are just temporarily incappacitated. Second, as others have said, the initial transaction took place on the phone. Then, you couldn't make it down to the store like everyone else because of your injury. How is that discrimination?

When I read your original complaint I felt that you were being treated unfairly by the employees at Victoria's Secret, BUT when you started to claim "handicap discrimination" it lost all its validity. I am sorry that you broke you leg, but that doesn't give you the right to claim that you are a victim.

All you men do is watch the book ommercials, and the T.V ads and want your woman to look like the models. I was a model and then since I happen to have the money I buy from VS. This Christmas I wanted to get gift bags for my daughters. That is all I could do this year for them - due to these circumstances. Anyway, I don't care if you agree or disagree with me but I was spending my money, paying taxes probably while you were still in diapers. Thanks for the kudos. If I were your mom I would be so proud!!!

So why do you bother shopping at some place like VS? They're a 'big business' you know. Call your local 'Mom & Pop' lingerie store which specializes in XXL size bloomers and they'll be happy to make the delivery right to your front door. After all, you're 'handicapped'(?) with that broken leg. I'm sure when you 'loss' your credit card, you reported it immediately, right? Last time that happened to me, it took three days for me to receive my replacement. You called VS at 9:00am on Friday and the bags were all gone? Get real! Friday was BF and I'm sure VS opened much earlier than 9:00am.

Darla, much of what you say is true about businesses today. Where your point gets lost is when you cry "handicap discrimination" by VC, over a couple of freebie bags. You admit you lost your credit card and were unable to order on line. You were going to send someone down to pickup an order at a later time and wanted a store to "hold" a couple of the bags for you. It was probably aganist company policy to hold bags for anyone. Otherwise they'd be holding bags for hundreds of people and wouldn't have enough for the shoppers who were in the stores and were buying at that time. See how many posts there are from pissed off customers who didn't get the low priced or free items from stores yesterday and today. There were fights and riots over limited numbers of items throughout the U.S. in different stores. If the person that was going to pick up your order had arrived in a timely manner, they would have been able to get the bags. That's your fault not the store's. Was down for two months after knee surgery with a staph infection. Had more important things to worry about then free bags with underwear. But keep on playing it for all it's worth. Write again when you have a true case of discrimination.

I am sorry if I have offended you but your response was by anyone's opinion an ATTACK on my CHARACTER!!! You don't know me nor I doubt will you ever. I have never needed to write complaints to get what I want. I have worked for 30 years of my life. I would like to continue to have faith in people as good samitaritians with a small amount of compassion. I suppose you have great compassion upon all those people with handicap stickers as well. I am aware that some people take advantage of systems but I have faith in those that don't like me. I have a degenerative bone disease that affects my bones. I suppose that everything you spoke about would be MY fault if people always came to ASSUMPTIONS!!! Actually, I told the people over the phone that I couldn't drive and that part of my story is in my statement of record as well. I don't have time to complain about nothing!!! People it seems, seem to be so cold and unfeeling these days. In the past a customer would be found to be in the right - ( that was good business ). Now who knows what good business is, and who sees what "truth" is. I have been a member of big business for 26 years and I find that it is very cut throat and people aren't really friendly except over an expensive business lunch. It's sad but true!!! Big business is greedy!!! I have studied business management, law, and criminal justice in college. I know that men on the other hand, may see things a bit differently and have another take on other people's misfortunes. For example: I would hate for something to happen to anyone in your family or yourself and you would have to make a car insurance payment today or be cancelled. You would be left to take a cab, and go ahead and make the payment with a cab taking you to the insurance office. Not being able to drive makes a difference when it comes down to the 11th hour. It also costs money!!! I won't write again unless someone with VS replies. My complaint isn't with you. You are more that capable of submitting your own complaints. I wonder what type of services or lack of services gets to you as a consumer. I would hope that you wouldn't handle matters the old fashioned way!!! There are to many enraged people on our roads now, which is just another problem. Thanks again for your take on my problem. Again, I hate not being able to get around and like you said, after I have my surgery I will be back on my feet again in no time at all, probably in April or May 2006.

Darla, nobody said you were a "lazy a*s woman". Nope...did not happen. The quote was "COULD be a lazy a*s woman". Two different things entirely. One says you ARE, the other says you COULD be.
Now, how exactly do you think someone on the other end of a phone knows you have a broken leg? You claim "handicap discrimination", yet there is no such occurence as the business at hand was done over the telephone. How does your leg fit into your issue of not getting some FREE bag?
Now, go ahead and rip on me since I know that words have meanings.
BTW, your leg will heal in a few weeks. I have yet to actually meet anyone who throws the "handicap" card around for a broken bone. Say Hi to Alfalfa.

Listen Miss or Ms or whatever,
I really don't care what you have to say. We will wait until you are in an accident and can't walk or drive. Then we will wait for someone to call you a lazy a*s woman while you describe your complaint!!!

How can there be discrimination over the phone or the internet? You could just be some lazy a*s woman who wants everyone else to everything for them. Without more evidence I would say that there is NO discrimination case here.
