Virginia College Online Virginia College Financial aid, textbooks and classes Internet, Internet
I started with Virginia College's online courses in August of 2011. I was promised by Martha Thompson that I would have my first stipends check in 30 days. I, also had to sign a loan agreement for the maximum amount of stipends. I told them it was important because I needed to buy a laptop for college due to all the tornado power outages. I wanted to be able to take the laptop somewhere so that I could get online.
When the 30 days rolled around, I didn't receive any indication that I was getting my stipends. I called Ms. Thompson several times with no response. She never returned my calls and finally contacted my enrollment adviser and he had her to contact me. She told me that I would not receive a stipends until half way through my first term. I told her I wanted to withdraw because I needed that laptop. Then I was contacted by Jasmine Jackson who advised me not to drop out and that she would help me. I emailed her back, on the same day and told her I would stay enrolled. She took the liberty of withdrawing me that day. I contacted my adviser, department heads, and registrar telling them I wanted to stay enrolled.
They promised to have me back online and it took them a week to do it. While everyone was finished taking their finals, I had a 24 hour period to take mine. Now it shows different instructors that what I really had and does not show the proper scores.
The fall term rolls around and I was suppose to be sent textbooks before the third week. They sent my textbooks to the wrong address twice, leaving me with no books until the 5th week of the term.
In the meantime, I am asking about my stipends. No one in financial aid communicates with each other, because no one knew what was going on with my grants and loans. One person said they were waiting on the summer funds to come in and another person says they are waiting on the fall funds to come in and that I should have my check soon. After inquiring several times, they still deny receiving all the funds. But said they would send my check and I would only get $354.00, not quite $1668.00 that I signed the loan for. At this time I also notice that they are billing me for three classes instead of two, which means I am paying for classes that I did not take.
I have asked and asked and asked to be withdrawn and the money refunded and still to this day have not been withdrawn. I have all communications between the advisers, financial aid and department heads to prove my case. They are going to charge me and keep me enrolled to keep the remaining funds and make it look like I am the one at fault. I have copies of all grades, instructors, loan papers, grants, and how much my tuition was suppose to be.
It is the most unprofessional, disorganized, uncommunicative educational facility I have ever dealt with and I do not recommend you waste your time and money. It is not worth the headaches you have to go through to get an education from them. Not to mention the curriculum is a joke. You pay more money for less of an education.
I want to be withdrawn immediately and my funds sent to me immediately!!
