Vision World anti glare coating turns foggy when cleaned with eyeglass cleaner. Not under Warranty! Ripoff Middletown Rhode Island
Vision World sold me a pair of prescription eyeglasses in the spring of 2006. They came with an anti glare coating. After about four months of daily use, I
began to notice they were difficult to clean. The more I cleaned them, the foggier they seems to get. In the Fall of 2006, I retured to Vision World and handed the eyeglasses over to the woman who sold them to me. She looked at them and said, "They are all scratched up. You need new glasses"
Feeling rather embrassed at my apparent lack of care for the glasses, I exited the store. Fast forward to the Spring of 2007, I went to my eye Doctor for my annual check up. At this time I handed him my glasses and asked what he thought. He said, "The anti glare coating has partially worn off. Take them back to where ever you purchased them. They should give you a credit towards your next pair of glasses"
Armed with this advise and a new prescription, I returned to vision world and handed both my old glasses and the new prescription to the woman behind the counter. I told her what had happened and asked if Vision World would give me some credit towards my next pair of glasses. She asked me for my name, address and date of birth. She entered this infor into her computer. Handing me back my glasses she said, "sorry they are out of warranty"
I left the store and went directly to Eye Health Vision Center on Valley Road Middletown RI. I picked out a new frame and handed over my prescription. She said that my new glasses would be ready in ten days and the cost would be $534.
When I returned toEye Health Vision Center in ten days, I asked the person handling my order, if some of the old anti glare coating had somehow been removed from my old glasses, did they hasve some solution that might take the rest of it off? she opened a drawer, pulled out a form that held them harmless if anything bad should happen to my old glasses while they attempted to remove this coating. I signed it. She said come back in twenty minutes.
When I returned, she greated me with a smile, and said, there you have it, now you have two perfectly good pairs of glasses. The coating is gone. I said what about the scratches? She said, there are no scracthes on these glasses.
I feel that the operators of Vision World, should have at least offered to remove the coating from my glasses back in the fall of 2006. But they were more interested in having me buy another pair of glasses.
Is this some type of corporate sales building technique? I wonder how many other customers have had similar experiences. Thank you
