VOIPTALK scam, stealing money from unsuspecting consumers rip-off fraud Santa Ana California
We received a letter from Direct One Communications. It states: "With the PIN number below you can begin making calls during your 10 day 'free' trial; then, unless you cancel, we'll automatically add 5000 minutes of long-distance time to your account...blah blah blah....
Of course I called immediately and spoke with 'Tiva'. I explained to her that we never signed up with them and that we have IDT long distance and are very satisfied with them. She went on to TELL me that we did indeed sign up on 2-12-03 through them from a different website where they were offering some sort of promotion....PROMOTION MY BUTT!
I replied that I have no recollection of signing up with them and that I just want to insure that we would not be charged for something we never wanted or requested. She told me that the account was cancelled. Of course I asked her if they already charged us......she said " I show no record of payment." I thought all was cool...thanked her and hung up.
I logged onto our account and low and behold.....$61.02 had been taken out of our account on 2-19-03...I know my math skills are not that great, but I could have sworn that 10 days means 10 days. 2-12-03 through 2-19-03 =7days...
I am just really frosted right now over this whole thing I needed to vent. We are not rich and not very many people are so 61.00 bucks can pay for a couple of my monthly bills and this company just stole it from us.
