My first attempt with Vonage was in the Spring of 2005. I had given them some of private information; credit card info, user name, address,etc... I began to notice problems.

As I was signing up I asked about 911 services, I was then informed that vonage did not have a true 911 service; incase of power outage, there would not be a 911 service available.

This bothered me, I checked my credit card statment and had also had some charges against my account that did not line up with any recent purchases.

My credit card company, whom has been very faithfull and patient with my Company Business, "Cornerstone Design Services.com" has always faithfully warned me of such activity, immediately when it happens, and has always worked with me to rectify the situation.

If there were any fraudulent losses, I was issued a new card and account, any and all monies charged were dropped, then "business" would return to normal.

I then cancelled the account with Vonage, and went without the VOIP service, until I could find another provider.

I then tried a company called Packet-8, they could not seem to get all the "ducks-in-a-row". I applied for a business account for my company "Cornerstone Design Services.com". The proper equipment did not get shipped to me.

I will now attempt A. T. & T, if they fail me, I am going back to the standard "old-fashioned" land-lines. At least I will have 911 usage in case of a power blackout or a STATE or NATIONAL emergency.

It would be a shame if the free world got all intertwined in the internet, and relied solely on it, for major services.

If we as a country were under attack, and telephone communications were at the mercy of satellite services or any service that could be hit or knocked out, and there was not a 911 service available, it would not be too hard to knock out a few satellites either.

Without normal communications wouldn't we be at a disadvantage?
