Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I want to start out by saying what I am about to tell you is true about this company. All of it is 100% true and my experience. My wife and I bought health insurance at the time for our German Shephard dog who we got at 10 weeks old. We adopted him and got him out of harsh conditions. We wanted to promote his health so we went to the vets office and they recommended VPI pet insurance. Of course like the good pet owners that we are we went ahead and signed him out we were told a lot when we purchased the plan that he would be covered up to 80 % of his surgerys and any medications that he would encounter. So we signed up spoke with a VPI agent and had him on the plan. For a while it worked as it planned we got checks back for his 1st years shots and it seemed to be okay. We'll we had smoke on the plan all the way up to when he was 2 years old and he went in for his neutering surgery. We paid upfront for the procedure and filed the claim afterwards as usual. After we waited several weeks, my wife called to find out where the check was and how much it was for. Out of a $250.00 bill we got $70.00 back. I wanted to laugh at what she told me and thought it was a joke but when I got home it was true. At first we thought it was a mistake but when we called into the call center immediately we got a representative and said no that is true, his coverage changed. I looked at my wife and we said we didn't change his coverage we told yall that we wanted him on the best coverage so it would be less that we would spend in the long run. I think everyone wants to save money not lose money. Pretty much the answer was sorry... we can't help you that is his policy but I will be more than happy to upgrade you but the policy isn't going to cover what he had before which was a grandfathered plan. I was ferious to say the least and cancelled coverage on my german shephard that day. My wife and I looked online and we got pet insurance through ASPCA, so far so good we just filled out claim on our new addition so we'll see how that goes for her. We'll ya know I would have thought the experience with VPI would have ended but it didn't we got a letter in the mail because we had VPI set up on direct deposit out of our checking account and it said they tried to attempt to take out funds out of our account. Now we advised the bank to not allow them to take any funds out. We'll when I contacted customer service they said we'll even if you told them verbally to cancel the account you have to submit an email or something in writing stating you want it cancelled to our customer care department. We'll I had my wife do an email while I was at work saved a copy to my hard drive for records and advised them to Cancel out the account and wrote to refund the previous month when they shouldn't have drafted out of my checking account. We'll I received an email like 2 days later from customer care and they stated that they will not refund my 1 month after I was with them for 2 yrs paid on time every month drafted from my account, was a good customer and they wouldn't give me my month back that they shouldn't have taken in the first place. We'll I am still waiting on my response to their email, I wrote them back and told them fine and I dont appreciate being lied to and being treated like I wasn't worth it as a good customer. I mean customer service is how you want to retain business not lose business but I guess they just dont care about their customers. I also advised them I will be advising my lawyer of this and advising my friends, family, people I know at the vets office and I will be notifying people on ripoffreports.com to save future people from wasting their money. Especially if your dog gets extremely sick, I mean you wouldn't get barely any of your out of pocket costs back. I'm still waiting on customer care to respond back we'll see if we have any updates. So far nothing!! My wife and I are very upset about this company, and hope that any future customers searching for pet insurance please avoid VPI Pet insurance, trust me you will thank me later. Goodluck pet owners I know you will do the right thing for your pet!!

UPDATE IN REFERENCE TO VPI PET INSURANCE FROM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

#2Author of original report

Mon, July 13, 2009

To everyone who can relate to my previous experience with VPI Pet insurance, after I put this report online at ripoffreports.com and left my email in reference to how I was going to contact ripoffreports.com and tell everyone of my bad experience with VPI Pet Insurance and that I was going to advise everyone I know and my vets office, they emailed me back within the week of the holiday and advised me that I will be getting my money of the one month that I shouldnt have paid in the first place back in my account at first when I got the email stating that they wouldnt do that I was very upset as you can see my previous experience with this company but I am now pleased that I got my money back into my bank account and I did receive a confirmation letter in the mail of cancellation of my dogs benefits. Although this should have happened months ago and I shouldnt have even had to go jump through these hoops and a little complaining seemed to do the trick. I can say that this tactic may not work with all situations but if you have a bad experience with this company can't hurt to try. I will also as stated before I wont be going back to this company because of the negative customer service that was delivered. Kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. Wish yall the best of luck if you are with this company....
