"" If a merchant sells thousands of packages of toys for children that contain 10 inch knives, are they "innocent" because they didn't package the "toys". ""

Yes, they are innocent. Merchants are not sued for selling a product that is later found to be unsafe. The manufacturer is sued. again, Your issue is with GE, not with walmart.

Excuse me, how is this NOT a responsibility of the Merchant?  When DID it become acceptable for a merchant to sell any pile of garbage without responsibility.

I purchased the same model of product, with even worse results.  I opened the box and plugged in the WES1450DM1BB microwave.  I attempted to heat popcorn.  When I pressed the start button, the turntable failed to start and the Microwave soon began shooting huge high-voltage sparks.

I now see the problems with this device are well known.  If a purchaser had made the minimal effort of turning on and testing 4 of these devices before making the national chain purchase, empirical evidence suggests at least one would have failed on start-up.

One year ago, I purchased a kitchen pan set from Walmart.  The larger pans had large slabs of what appeared to be copper on the bottoms of the pots.  The first time I used the larges pot, I found this was aluminum, painted like copper.

I turned the stove on high to heat water.  Another activity required my attention.  I returned to a blaring smoke alarm.  When the water evaporated, the bottom of the pot had essentially caught fire, ejecting Aluminum gases into the air.  The Aluminum had melted into the heating element of my stove, fumes filled the house (and my lungs), ruining the porcelain surface of the new stove.  Needless to say, breathing burning Aluminum isn't a normal human activity.

If a merchant sells thousands of packages of toys for children that contain 10 inch knives, are they "innocent" because they didn't package the "toys".

The answer is obvious.  A merchant has a responsibility to perform some inspection of the products they sell. There was a time this was understood to be common responsible merchant behavior.

This GE WES1450DM1BB microwave is a hazardous and defective product.  GE is responsible for producing an inferior product.  Walmart is irresponsible for creating a market for this product.

So, how, exactly was this Wal-mart's fault? Wal-Mart does not make microwave ovens.

What a bogus report! Do you think Wal-Mart makes microwave ovens??? And, you never said how much time elapsed between the purchase date and the failure date. So, why did you not file your report against GE??? Do you think that Wal-Mart should just indefinitely warranty someone elses product? You need a serious reality check! Go spend another 30 bucks and get a new one, but this time splurge on the extended warranty!

Walmart did not make the microwave oven.

Walmart sold the microwave oven, but GE (General Electric) manufactured the oven. GE probably stuck their name on the oven and the oven was probably made in China or Mexico by a subcontracting manufacturer. So your microwave turntable motor stopped working, your microwave still heats up food, right? A microwave turntable motor failure is not the "biggest rip off ever". Donate the microwave oven and just buy another microwave oven.
