I spoke with US Department of Education about Walden University and found some interested info:

The Riley School of Education is NOT an accredited program.

If you don't believe me call them. Don't be shocked!

Walden University accreditation

WARNING: The general accreditation that Walden pays for is not very rigorous nor does it mean very much.

While Walden University does have a basic level of accreditation through The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), it lacks very important accreditation for several of its programs which students may not be aware of.

I was enrolled at Walden in the PhD in public health program. However, graduate degrees in public health at Walden are not accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) nor are these degree programs recognized by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). I learned too late that without the CEPH accreditation my PhD from Walden is worthless.

It is extremely important for potential students to know that many employers require more accreditation than what Walden claims to have. These employers will commonly include a statement such as “education qualifications must be from a school whose accreditation is recognized.” Without these important accreditations, some students may discover they have spent a lot of time and money on a degree that is not recognized in their field.

I strongly urge both current and prospective students to verify what professional accreditations are expected within their field. Walden University does a good job flaunting their regional accreditation, but potential students need to be fully aware that this is a basic level of accreditation that may not be sufficient enough to acquire a job in their field of study.

Here's a link from the Department of Education indicating that Walden (Minneapolis Campus) has both regional and programmatic accreditation: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/InstAccrDetails.aspx?756e697469643d3130373034342663616d70757349643d30

According to the NCATE website (www.ncate.org) both their initial and advanced programs are accredited.
