Let me first explain something thats going on in this area, as quite a few stores have picked up this illigal pratice and quite a few have gotten fined for it as well. You ever play the little game in school when you were a kid where the teacher told you a long sentenance which you were suppose to pass on to next person then another and see when it got to the other side wether it was the same or twisted up?

Basically some tidbit of misinformation somewhere got all screwey and a lot of retail outlets picked up the illigal pratice. What pratice is this? Its advertising a price under their products, then charging you more and stating theres a start date or end date in small writing that states when it starts or ends so they dont have to honor this. I checked into this, and the little date thing is null and void. If a company advertises a product, THEY MUST SELL IT AT ITS ADVERTISED PRICE or remove the tag. The date on the tag is a reminder to associates when to put them out and take them off, not when they have to honer them.

That all said and done lets go to Walgreens in San Bruno which is the top of my list of following this made up law. My wife and I did a LOT and I mean lot of shopping there number of weeks ago. When we brought the products to the register to be wrung up Im notacing prices showing way more then what they are marked on EVERYTHING! Soda $4.99 instead of $1.99, Antacids $4.50 instead of $2.50, batteries $6 instead of 2 for $5, and a lot more. I told the cashier to stop ringing up and to ring up the correct price who then gets the store manager.

Store manager tells my wife and I that the prices are no longer in effect or will be in effect in a few days and that the tags have dates when they start and end and that he doesnt have to start honoring them. I broke the news to him how wrong he was in regards to this and what the dates ment who basically let it go in one ear and out the other until I took out my digital camra phone and started taking picures of the shelfs.

When he started telling me I cant take pictures in his store I just replied (Why dont you call the sheriff becasue if you dont I will and well discuss these pictures and your prices) He imidiately gave in and gave us the items at the advertised price and Im still reporting this now. Going to get the pictures uploaded lator showing the price tags and what there really charging.

I do not work for the company anymore, but that is overboard to whip out your camera and start taking pictures of shelves and to threaten to call the sherriffs office. Even if the police showed up they would not have done anything. You are seriously lucky that the Walgreens management did not give you a trespass warning on this issue. Should the manager have given you the advertised prices? Darn right he should have! Should you have incited a riot the way you did? Darn right you shouldnt have. That is just plain crazy and instead of fealing sorry for you I honestly lack a certain amount of respect because what you did was totally uncalled for. Next time talk to the manager if he does not honor your requests for the advertised prices contact the upper management and let them know about it, but do not incite a riot the way you did.

Go to the Walgreens website and click on contact us. Then click on Customer Service and write in a compliment or a complaint. Corporate and store management will get an email regarding the situation and will take care of the problem. an Ex employee

You are right Scott, I am a manager for Walgreens and I here about this a lot. Stores forget to pull old tags or try to get the new ones up early and then run aload of bull to customers who are expecting to get the item for the advertised price.(Yes we must give you the adverised price no matter what they tell you) Next time and I hope there not demand the district managers number and tell the store manager you will be calling "Weights&Measures". Nothing scares a store manager like W&M. I love Walgreens and their a great company to work for, but I do realize that there are bad employees out there and the only way to take care of it is to contact everyone in the chain of command and the proper authorities like W&M Thanks Ken S.

Let me be the first to apologize for the customer service. The store manager should have treated you a lot better than this and should not have questioned you or even threaten you by calling the cops. Now, you could have taken the tag off the shelf itself (this has occured on occasion in my store) and take it to the cashier. IN any case, Walgreens should honor that price. I would suggest (if you have done this already - then disregard) is that you go to the District Manager with this complaint. Since you have pictures, try to find a different Walgreens (other than the one you had the bad service) that has a Kodak Picture Maker as the digital (There could be some stores) photo service. If not then try to find a store with one. Those machines have the ability to print off your cellphone. Get Prints and a CD (It's on sale for 99 cents with coupon). Make copies of the pictures and the recipit! Then take all that info and send it to the District Office. Make sure you circle where the items on the recipit that was in dispute. (I say was because it was fixed after you showed the proof) If you can not get anyone with the District, start going higher. And please inform us. I would tell you more about those items.
