Walgreens is a very busy company, I am pharmacy tech that works for an insurance and 90% of my time is spent telling Walgreens how to fill prescriptions. They make way to many mistakes (last week they tried to asked our company to pay medication that they had dispensed KNOWING it was recalled). None of the prescriptions are processed in the local pharmacy and the seem to have no knowledge of how to work their computer systems (for the most part). This is really confusing in a pharmacy and leads to error which occur all the time. All the time, when I worked retail at Publix (THE BEST) patents switched from Walgreens because Walgreens overcharged them (all the time), Walgreens dispensed the wrong (Oops! 40mg instead of 20mg) or sometimes the prescriptions just went missing (Where did that oxycoodone go??). Walgreens is just to busy, employees to inept, and the company to money hungry for me to ever take a prescription there. That being said the manager is an idiot. She not only is incredibly unprofessional (she actually told you that they put a child in the hospital??) she is trying to kept herself from being fired, for allowing her employees to almost kill someone. You have recourse- if you felt your life was in danger call the DEA tell what you should have received and what you actually received, call Walgreens corporate to file a complaint. All pharmacists are scared when this happens- and they MUST report to the DEA the pharmacists can lose their licenses. I would take a stand now, they tried to brush off but it happened before (mention it to the DEA) and they weren't serious enough, who is next an infant? Mistakes happen but this is a serious that if taken this lightly will kill a person.

It isn't Walgreens fault as a whole for what happened to you and it's unfair to blame Walgreens, a company with almost 5,000 stores, for one person's mistake. No one is perfect. Not even a pharmacists. Pharmacists are required to pay more attention to detail than most, but even with the utmost care, mistakes can and do happen. Not just at Walgreens, but EVERYWHERE. Instead of freaking out and posting an anti-Walgreens thread, if you did your research you would discover that prescription errors happen all the time. That is why if you go to yahoo and type in "prescription errors" in the search box, you will see various individuals not unlike yourself looking to blame the big corporation for one person's very human mistake. There are hundreds of complaints against Rite Aid, CVS, just about every other pharmacy out there. They must ALL be inherently evil and filled with incompetent employees right? Look, I'm sorry this happened, but think of it this way. You are alive. Be grateful. Could've been much worse.

You know, the medication you take is a serious matter. I won't disagree that mistakes like this are unacceptable, however, maybe YOU should have read the label prior to taking the medication. I always do. Human error is bound to happen. Make sure it doesn't happen to you and read your labels.

First off I do agree that that was a terribly situation, but mistakes happen all the time, you need to just get over it, and did it happen to you? No. I work at a Walgreens and its the best job I have ever had! The people I work with are amazing and everyone is so close. We treat costumers respectfully and as equals. At Walgreens there are VERY strict ruled regarding these matters and if they are not followed than there will be consequences. Are you to say that you've never made a mistake before? I mean seriously, the perscription IS labled right in front of your eyes, its your responsibility to always check your medications before taking it, its just irresponisble if you do not. So just get over it, Walgreens is an amazing store with amazing people working in it!
