I purchased a 60" vizio LED TV November 2013 for my daughter.  In August 2014 a vertical line of failed pixels showed up on the screen.  I purchased the TV at Walmart and purchased the "Product Care Plan".    The plans glossy marketing says the following:

"No hassles. No hidden fees. No kidding"  "3 day service guarantee"  "Never be left unprotected. Our coverage starts on day 1."  "simply file a claim online at productassist.com/walmart."

I filed a claim online only to be shown a web page that said  "Contact Vizio at 949-428-2525 for warranty service."   I couldn't believe it, what happened to the "No hassles, simply file a claim".  I called the company 877-968-6391, was asked for the date of purchase and the problem I was having then I was told "Per the terms and conditions you need to contact Vizio for warranty service, here is their number".  I got no where and was polite as can be and asked the gentleman to point out the terms and conditions within the fine print.

He was hesitant and was trying to get me off the phone, but I kept a polite tone even though I wanted to rip into him with some harsh words.  But he was doing his job, reading from a script.  Finally he pointed me to the fine print, and there it was.  "all other coverage becomes effective immediately following the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty...".  I can forget the nice glossy marketing stating "Our coverage starts on day 1."  When I bought the plan I was told the plan started day 1 and just to open a claim with the number on the warranty plan.  The glossy marketing also leads you to believe it starts coverage on day 1 and that it's easy with no hassle.

What a RIPOFF.  Don't buy the walmart Product Care Plan for warranty, it's not what they say or what the glossy marketing leads you to believe.
