Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Wal-mart continues to be an Anti-worker, Un-American company that abuses it's employees around the world. They are terribly anti-union and exploitive of workers and suppliers. Walmart and the Waltons have never been the "nice" people that they protray themselves to be.

I do recognize that Wal-mart is probably unstoppable. One concern however, is what will happen to their low prices once they have driven out all other competitors such as small localized Mom and Pop Stores, competing chains.

Beware:

Vendors, you may not be paid, Wal-mart may try to evade paying you for services rendered, and products delivered. They may then try to refute your bill, get you to accept less than the full amount. You may have to take them to court.

Facts:

K-Mart seems on the verge of bankruptcy. I don't think Target is in very good shape.

Wal-mart destroys four or five jobs for every one that it creates.

Wal-mart monitors this site with it's internet propaganda arm (some 200 employees???). Look at the rebuttals that will soon follow criticisms of them.

Good news:

Many communities and I think the State of Vermont has banned Wal-mart from entering into business there!

The State of Washington has now prohibited Wal-mart from self administering Workman's Compensation Claims because of it's flagrant abusive of workers.

The courts have become increasingly aware of the stonewalling and abuse of power by Wal-mart and are ruling favorably for abused workers and vendors.

What can you do?

Support union efforts should they arise by Wal-mart workers in your community. Alert your city council and county legislatures to be pro-active in dealing with Wal-mart. Be supportive of competition. Remember, Wal-mart does NOT always have the lowest price.

WalMart is very very picky how a vendor not only ships a product to them, but how it is barcoded, and how the paperwork is presented. If the vendor does not follow exactly what WalMart says they must do, the vendor gets fined, or they will not accept the shipment, or the vendor does not get paid. The buyers and purchasing agents that are employeed by WalMart are a disgrace to the Purchasing Profession. I can state that because I am a Purchasing Professional with a C.P.M. from the Institute for Supply Management. Companies out there beware you will lose money dealing with mass merchants such as WalMart. Its not worth the problems that you will face in doing business with these types.

As a resident of vermont for all but five years of my life I say this; I wish you were correct about VT not allowing Wal*marts into the state. Unfortunately, this is not so. My brother was part of the crew that assembled the interior of the store in Williston. We have at least two, and IMHO, this is three too many. I know what I said. The customer service is lacking, the products are inferior, the lines are too long and the employees know virtually nothing about their departments. The last two comments can be attributed to the high turnover rate for employees in the store. Don't think that I'm defending Wal*mart, I just think you have to look at every side of something. I worked at Ames for five years, but you couldn't pay me enough to work at the Wal. Not ours at least, but I digress. When Ames closed their doors, Wal*mart was innundated with new employees, It will take time for the differences twixt the stores to be reconciled in the minds of the new employees.

you are wrong only in one part of your statement. i grew up in nw arkansas not by choice. and therefor i know for a fact the waltons who started the walmart were indeed very nice and caring people mr walton whom i have visited with while detailing his king air that he used to fly his hunting dogs in at the walmart avation hanger in rogers ark. he dident introduse himself as mr walton he just walked up to me and asked me how i was doing that day and we talked for at least 30 mins all the while i dident know who i was talking to the workers in the hanger told me who it i was shooting the breeze with he was wearing bib overalls and had one of his dogs in the back of his old truck. he dident flaunt his wealth he dident feel he was to good to visit with a commoner all he saw was a young man who was doing a good job at a good price trying to start my own buisness what he saw in me was himself in his younger years. in thows days the employees at the walmart stors were a reflection of him theye talked to ya nicely and they followed the 15 foot rule theye dident say hi just because it was a rule to say hi to any person who got within 15 feet theye said hi because theye were happy theye were happy because theye worked for a happy person who treated them with respect and dignaty. you dident have to have proof you bought a item from the walmart store to return or exchange it thus he kept his customers coming back. he took great pride in his country and his fellow american friends and he bought only from american makers in order to keep our econemy strong and to help build up the american dream of owning your own buisness. he is a man among men and one to be proud of. someone whom im proud to say i had the chance to meet. now on the other hand the person or persons who is running his reputation into the ground you know the the ungratefull people who took over the buisness after he died the ones who are running it now the ones who should hide there face in shame the ones whom i would be shamed to say if i ever met them. who ever is running it now is a disgrace to the walton name if its his kids theye should be ashamed to disgrase there fathers name and reputation and if its not family then you should still be ashamed of the ireversable damage you have done to the walton reputation and image. now as far as the rest of your report is most likely true as to the fall of the american buisness. the current operators of the walton empire are money deamons with a heart of stone wraped in a dollar bill i agree theye do bring jobs to some towns where there were no jobs but in others theye cause jobs to be lost like my town the new store will provide jobs and repaired roads. but in its own home town the loss of the western auto was a great loss the owner and staff were old friends because of there frindlyness i bought my car tires and my kids bikes and parts for many years even after walmart opened its car service why you ask well walmart employes dont call you by name any more and there not very friendly most are friendly but not all and its not there fault its whom theye work for and how there treated that reflects in how theye treat us. along time ago i worked at a subsidarry of walmart and i made the doughnuts 3am was clock in time but my boss was always 30 min late i lost 30 min pay every day because she was late and had the key to unlock the store i wore a chefs hat starched tall and looking good she informed me it dident look proper to wear a chefs hat that the proper atire was a hare net or baseball cap well take a look in there dellis you will see chef hats on there heads yep im the one who started it but theres one difference i am a chef 20 years i spent earning that hat and i dont meen flipping burgers. its a medafore to me that every time i see them wearing those hats it reminds me walmart is a wantabe when walmart grows up it wants to be a reputable empire but it will never happen as long as cooks are pretending to be chefs.
