Received letter on Jan.13/09 from WaMu (dated Jan.6/09) informing us that our credit card account was closed (inactivity - we never carry a credit balance so we don't buy what we can't pay for) and our 43K Reward Points (value over $700) had expired.

When contacted, the Customer Service Dept stated that WaMu had mailed a letter on Nov.19/08 to inform us that there was a Dec 31/08 deadline to use the points or re-activate the account. We never received any letter at all, nor any phone call. No other attempt to inform us was made. With $700-$1000 of reward value at stake, why would the bank NOT send an additional letter, email or phone message?

After over 2 hours on the phone with the Customer Resolution Department, I was told that there are NO exception to their rules, and therefore NO solution to be found. I was told that one mailed letter, whether it is received by the customer or not, is all the bank is required by law to do. (Is this true? or are they legally responsible to be sure the customer is notified?) So using the regular mail for that one letter is all WaMu did. They said to complain at my local post office (like that is going to help?)

How easily this whole situation could have been handled, if WaMu truly felt their customers deserved to be serviced ethically. Is there anyone that can suggest a solution?

I went to my online wamu statement to click on the link to redeem my rewards points from my wamu account. The link that was with my statement last month was gone. I found the sight; https://www.premiumpoints.com/WaMuRewards_CustomerWeb/Login.aspx?Referral=DUALPP I imputed information and was able to redeem my points ( I think ) If I do not get my shipment I will come back and post the update.
