My children have been owed back support for years. When it reached $15,000.00+ I contacted the Michigan Attorney General's office. I was told that until My Children were owed more than $20,000 the AG's office had no interest in attempting to prosecute the felonious non-support of my children. So I waited a few months until the arrearage had climbed to above $20,000.

This time when I contacted the AG's office I was informed that the AG would not address any non-support cases until the arrearage had exceeded $100,000! The payor on my case has had a bench warrant out for arrest due to non-appearance at a show-cause hearing, but since the payor is living out of state, the FOC will not arrange to have the payor arrested. For 3 years the FOC did not have ANY employees answering phones whatsoever! If you needed to get an answer, you had to take a day off work and wait in line for several hours, just to hear, "It's not our fault that the payor isn't paying!" When I requested to speak to someone from the Interstate Enforcement department, I was told that no such department existed (even though the FOC voicemail clearly states that it on the 5th floor of the Penobscott Building!!!)

When I tried to assist with collection by informing the FOC of the payor's new address, they changed the payor's address to MY address so that subsequent notices for the payor went to MY address. When I tried to correct this, I was told that I could only change MY information!!!) Is there NO END to the rip-offs by deliberate misinformation, incompetence and neglect?

Contact the Attorney General's Office again and don't tell then who you are with this phone call, just tell them you would like to know what the EXACT amount is in MIchigan for arrearages in child support to become considered a felony. I read on someone else's comment on here for Wayne County that it was $10,000. Find out the EXACT amount, THEN call back and give them your case detail and if they say it is more AFTER you give them the details, then tell them that is not what so and so that you just talked to said. THEN, tell him, "well, I guess I will call the Governor's Office and tell them that you more or less told me to go on welfare since the only way that my ex is going to be forced to pay is if he owes the staye. If you don't ge anywhere, call the Governor's Office, I have, and I told several others to so the same. Make her aware of the number of cases that are out there that FOC isn't doing anything about. By the way, even though Michigan issued a warrant for his arrest, if he livees out of state, they can not enforce the warrant outside of Michigan, unless it is a felony warrant. Good luck, I'm in the same boat. Make sure the Governor's Office knows it is Waynce county Friend of the Court and that she will be getting several more calls about this FOC from others going through the same thing. Maybe if she gets enough calls about the same place, they will investigate it. Yes, you can get your case registered with Interstate Unit so his state can enforce the order but Waynce County has to giv ethem the info to decide whether it meets their guidelines for an Interstate case. keep on their a*s until they get sick of you. They use being understaffed for an excuse for not doing their job that that office is funded for.
