I have been a customer at Webster Bank for over 10 years.  Over the last few years, I have been fighting with Webster with their fees they charge to customers which are deemed excessive.  I had put an alert on my account which according to Webster and the representative I spoke with would alert me when my account balance was low or when there was insufficient funds to cover a transaction.  What happened many times was that the notification wasn't sent, or that I calculated the money correct in the account but a misc fee would pop up that would put the account in overdraft. I was once charged $37.00 for a $1.99 transaction.  Webster refused to hear about reversing that charge.  Recently, a company who had a judgement against me (unknown to me) went into my account with a natural execution order.  They did this twice.  The second time was in error and after to speaking with the attorney they refunded the money taken out by them but could  not refund the sheriff's fees.  I then learned Webster charged me a $100 fee plus overdraft fees taken due to this error. When the original transactions were made, there was more than enough funds in the bank to cover them and they were covered until Webster reversed them for the natural execution.  Now I am fighting Webster to either return the $100 for the processing fee, or return my 2 overdraft fees.

I am really starting to hate them.

Florida,
You Bet They're Excessive and You Don't Need To Be Paying Them!

First let me state the facts as you mentioned...the account in question is YOUR account; the money in that account is YOUR money; nobody but YOU has access to YOUR money in YOUR account.  Yet incredibly, YOU don't have a clue how much money YOU have in YOUR account and YOU want the bank to tell YOU when YOUR balance is low!  YOU then write bad checks/debits on account which YOU don't know a thing about and YOU run up overdraft fees..and that's the bank's fault?  No, as I said earlier, you don't need to pay overdraft fees.  What you do is keep a check register with an on-going running balance.  But no, you're too lazy to do that and you even want the bank to do what YOU should already know...know when your balance is low!  You also claim you didn't know about a judgement.  Right..out of the clear blue sky in floats this judgement.  I guess the judgement is somebody elses fault too and you had nothing to do with that either.  No, I don't work for them but if I did, I'd triple overdraft fees just to increase my profit off of people like you who have zero clue as to how to handle money and blame everybody else!

You can avoid these fees by keeping a check register and reconciling your bank statement!  Learn to manage your money and stop blaming the bank!!!!!

The fees you deem excessive are in line with what other banks charge for the same reasons. I would suggest resetting your alert to a higher amount. Of course keeping an accurate register also helps.

By the way, how did you not know of the judgement against you? The company would have had you served with paperwork detailing the court cas, time, place , etc. You may have gone and lost or chosen not to go, but I have a hard time believing you didn't know.

Colorado,
Sounds like little, if any of this is the Bank's fault..

Your complaint with the double account withdrawal is/was with the judgement party.

The $37.00 for only a $1.99 transaction is STILL a NSF charge even if it's one cent...your fault, again.

What would ANY other bank have done differently.

What, again is the Ripoff by the bank.

"I have been fighting with Webster with their fees they charge to customers which are deemed excessive."

Who, besides YOU deem these fees to be excessive?
