It's sounds like they really dropped the ball on your first encounter and you should not have had those late fees.....However, not paying them for the remainder of the loan is probably the worst idea in the world. Yes, it is true they won't be able to find your car, but what is going to happen is they will charge off your account and until it is paid in full you will have ABSOLUTEY NO CHANCE of ever getting another car loan. I am an underwriter for an auto finance company. I work in sub prime (people with bad credit) but paying late and charging off a car are two totally different things. Until you pay them in full nobody will give you a loan. Even if you do end up paying it off you will end up having to put 20% cash down and pay 21% on your next loan. Wells Fargo is a big company, your 20 grand car loan doesn't mean that much to them, but the extra interest you will have to pay for the next decade if you do pay off the charge off, will cost you thousands of extra dollars. Smooth move ex-lax.

It disturbs me, but doesn't surprise me to see this has been going on for quite some time. Once again, further proof that this is a systematic fraud. These people must be stopped.... They will be and to the person who said " just mail in the money...." if they can't post a payment correctly, why would you "just send them the money? " you think they are going to send it back if they ever decide they are wrong? NO . I was only able to have it returned for one person, and that was because we had the customers bank take it back. Do NOT allow them to automatically take it from your account. Don't allow automatic bills pay from your accounts by ANY company. I you have a loan with Wells Fargo, do not bank with Wells fargo. It makes it harder for them to steal, and easier to get it back for you. don't send them money you don't owe. If they dont credit your accounts for payments, ask them for a complete payment history, since day one, and ask for a copy of every statement they have ever sent you. compare them to the ones they have already sent you. They will not match. That is, if they ever send them.

i have an wells fargo auto finance loan.i opened it in june 2005 i have had numerous other auto loans but not with wells fargo.in my 48 years of living i have never had to deal with the bs i have with them.my account was in pa thats where my payments had to be sent according to my payment booklet.i just had my credit report pulled and good old wells fargo shows me 30 days late 10 times.i send my payment on the 24th of each month its due the 28th.in feb this year they start calling me telling me i owe they 280 dollars in late payments i ask the guy on the phone why he tells me he dont understand it hisself i ask him to send me a copy so i can see whats going on that was 5 months ago i still havent received anything.in feb 24 i sent my feb payment only to get it returned to me on the 15th of march stating the address is no longer a good address.i called wells fargo told them what had happened tell tell me they had changed the address back in 2006.now isn't that funny they never told me.i sent the payment again.in mid march they call me again telling me im late i when off on this guy and that he had better check on it cause i sent it.in april they call me again now im really hot but this time they tell me the account number had been changed back 2006 again i was never told.i was using my payment book and the address thats was on there plus account number.i was told then they had stopped using the payment booklet again news to me.i told them i hadn't received a statement from them they tell me it was sent out.again nothing just this passed may i get a statement.they need to drop the late bs on my credit report because this is something to do with their own people not having the sense to put the information out to the customers. they need to straighten out their own company and people.maybe all the customers who have loans just stop paying them put the hurt on their butts.to this day i still have not received my account information from them.i really think they are hiding something.i have also sent this to newspapers its time to stop the bs.i contacted the attorney generals office.wells fargo people are not doing their jobs its time for a house cleaning.

In response to the rebuttal from Britney - Catonsville, Maryland U.S.A.. I have been a victim of the same practices by Wells Fargo Auto Finance. I pay my bill early and they don't credit my account, but call me asking for more money. Now they send letters because I sent them a "do not contact" notice certified mail, which is the only way to get this company to respond. I just want to say that what really "doesn't make sense" is why someone would pay more money to a company (that they would be current with if the company actually credited the payments to the account)when they obviously just take the payment and cash it without crediting any specific account for the payment. Isn't that stealing? Isn't it harassment to continually call someone whose money you have misappropriated and ask for more? The person who wrote in originally is not to be intimidated by threats to ruin their credit. Kudos to you!!! Just because they loaned us money does not allow them to steal the payments we make to them. Don't let them intimidate you. Why should you be? You made the payment and if it ever went to court, you have proof. Just look at the date the check cleared. WF cashed a check of mine 1/30/07 and did not apply it to my account til 4/5/07. Currently, I have an online payment my bank says they received on 4/17/07 and it still is not reflected in my account and when I talk to them they say they have not received it. Chase Bank (my bank) says they did. Hmmm. What they are counting on is for you to roll over and take it like Britney suggests you do. Don't be intimidated by this predatory lending company!

Why not pay what you owe while the $140 is being investigated? Don't you realize this is hurting your credit? Sorry, but you don't make much sense.
