I purchased my home (modular) back in 2000 from Americas Servicing Company.  My mother passed in 2005.  Her name and my ex was on the loan.  I had to refinance after her passing and it went into my name.  Everything was fine until I received a letter in the mail telling me that Wells Fargo bout my loan from ASC.

About a year and half or 2 years ago I had a hardship.  I lost a job that I had for 10 years.  I called Wells Fargo to talk to them about refinancing and they told me that they do not refinance modular homes.  I do not understand why they bought my mortgage when they don't even finance homes like mine.  I have had nothing but trouble out of them.

Actually them selling your Mortgage to Wells Fargo wasn't the issue. Lenders buy/sell loans all of the time, yours was probably bought in a block of a few thousand that met certain criteria.

Now, before you ask. Yes, part of that criteria does NOT have to be that they would have originally funded the loan. Yes, you gave the lender this right when you got the Mortgage. NO, they do not need your permission.

The real issue you are having could happen with any lender. In that you are now unable or unwilling to make your payments and want to change the terms of the mortgage. It is no guarantee that the original company would have treated you any different.

First off, lenders sell loans everyday and this is just one of those instances. You don't own the loan, the original lender does and as such they can sell THEIR loan to anyone they decide upon. You then say you've had nothing but problems. How can you have any problems with them? You send the payment, you make it on line or you call it in, so what's the problem? Oh yes, let me guess. You are regularly late and their bill collectors are calling. You are calling them to "make arrangements" (which means you want to pay the amount you decide upon when you want to pay it or not at all), or you're trying to play the "change the due date" game! They have thousands of customers who do what they promised to do and that's make their payments on time, every time. They don't have "problems" with them! No, I don't work for them!
