So I was told on Friday that it was a done deal and paper work sent to Credit Union with the dealership paying down the interest rate. I called the credit union this morning (Wednesday) and they had no communication with them since the 18th (date of the rejection notice). I then called Wesley Chapel Nissan and spoke with Laz. He informed me that the credit union did respond back with an interest rate of 4.5% (in between my contract and what Credit Union told them on the 18th). I explained to him that the credit union and no record of any form of contact with him. He wanted me to come in to sign a new contract stating the 4.5% interest rate. I told him that I would not be signing a contract for that amount. He explained that my terms and payment amount would remain the same and that they still were buying down the interest rate but that the actual contract would still show 4.5%. About an hour later, I called him back and told him that I had contacted my lawyer and she advised me not to sign the contract but that he could fax the contract to me for our review. He again explained that while contract showed 4.5 I will still only be paying 3.95% even though the contrac would not be showing this. I told him I did not feel comfortable and would not sign that contract. I told him that if there was a problem the credit union could contact me directly and explain the problem. He got very angry and said that he thinks I have been trying to get out of this deal from the beginning. I told him that I hadn't; that I loved the car but hated this wasn't finalized and the car is sitting in my garage. I told him that if they could hold up their end of the contract, I would be happy to keep the car. He got very rude and said "I will get with my General Manager and see what he wants to do... maybe we will just take the car back.. i'll let you know!" And slammed the phone down!! I was in shock and still am over this! I still haven't gotten a call back (6 hours later) and since have called Nissan Corporate office. They took down a lot of notes on the events that took place and are supposed to be returning my call by the end of the business day tomorrow. They advised me to NOT sign any forms for the dealership and were very frustrated and apologetic. I will never buy another vehicle without first getting financial approval and have a check in my hand to hand to the dealership so that it's a done deal. This is turning into a big nightmare and I'm so disappointed. I'm stunned that they would be so unprofessional as to hang up the phone on me. PLEASE do NOT do business with these people!! You will likely only get into the same problems as I experienced. (They tried to be as nice as pie before the contract was signed.. and now after, they are rude and will not return phone calls or keep me posted. Now I sit with a car in my garage that I do not feel comfortable driving; and am stressed out not knowing what is going on!) I will update this as the drama continues. Hopefully, Nissan headquarters will get this straightened out. I will also be contacting local TV stations for assistance.
