I went to Western Dental office to get my teeth clean in October 2009. Some dentists did show up for work on my first visit. I had to wait for two hours. X-Ray and general cleaning total cost $882. My out pocket expense was $170 and they billed my insurance Met Life  for additional $711.60.

They knew how much my insurance would reimburse them because Western Dental was in the Met Life network. My insurance only agreed to pay $594.60. Remaining amount $117 was rejected.

Western Dental automatically dialed my house daily after business hours and on weekend to ask for payment $117.  They left messages after messages and tried to intimidate their patients.

It was very frustrating that I could not talk to a human being.  Billing department phone line was always busy.  I left many messages and email; however, no one could help me to resolve.  I went in the office, but office manager was not there. she did not call me back.

It was a rip off to charge $882 for x-ray and cleaning. They excessively billed my insurance and any rejection amount was my responsibility to make additional payment.

It is not acceptable for this kind of business practice.  It has to be stopped.  Of course, I learned an expensive lesson from Western Dental.
