Complaint Review: William and Barbara Barlow or Barlow Construction - Wrens Georgia

 I met william barlow thru a mutual friend who had done work for him. He referred william to do my carport it was starting to rot and separate from my home. I specifically asked if he was liscenend and bonded. The answer came several times as YES. I even asked William Barlow upon meeting if this were true when he came to look at the job.

 He gave me the worst case senario claiming the job would be 13650.00 even before he looked inside the roof. I agreed and he said, "{He said he would bring the contract over in a few days" Mind you he has not taken anything down off the roof to check the damage he just automatically says worst case senario just by looking at the roof.

 He comes over a few days later with his business partner Barbara Barlow. We all sit down and I get ready to sign the paper work. I ask again , "You are lisc and bonded" He says , "Yes". She looks at kind of side ways as to indicate he was not being truthful. then he changes his story to you have nothing to worry about Ms. Middleton my lisc. are expired but before I start this job everything will be fine. I said OK, I am trusting you. I agree to pay them 1000.00 a week with knowing money runs a little tight for me being a personal trainer. Some weeks are good and some weeks are not so good. They agreed to work with me. Well after the signing of the contract I hand them the first 1000.00. William indicates to me he is going to take the under paneling down on the roof to see the damage. I went on to my job only to come home and see he had taken the whole entire roof down off my house.

 I continued to pay this man and he did no work. I ended up giving him 3500.00 then I realized he still had not done any work but was steadily coming over to collect money. He even stole my ladder and some other items out of my ultilty room. I had to call him for and he said he did not know what i was talking about . ONly for the items to show up again when i came home from work outside of my utility room. he then just threw some boards over my utilty room only for it to rain inside there and rott out the floors on that. then all of my shelves got destroyed, he then put a huge hole in my privacy fence when finally delivering the truss that he claims cost 3200 bucks but provided no receipts.  He left a huge gapping hole in the side of my house where the squirels were getting in the attic having a party running around in the tops of the ceiling of my house.

 When I called him and told him the county came out due to him not pulling the permits. He then said the county lied to me about having to have a permit. Please stay away from this man and his wife. He has cost me so much damage to my home . I truly am better off just moving out buying a new one. This man is not lisc. or bonded in GA. He is just a scammer he gets social security and disability so how is he filing his taxes . He is not filing taxes he is simply taking your money and spending thats what he did with my money and thats why he could not do the job on my house he had spent my money and then he could not provide the receipts for what I had bought because he knew he had ripped me off claiming the items cost more than what they did.

Please avoid this man and his wife if you live anywhere in the CSRA of Augusta, Ga. This man is not to be trusted.
