I purchased a small tanzanite ring in August 2007 at a Colombian Emerald jewelry store in the Bahamas. I signed up for a credit plan - like one of those low interest, bill me later plans with World Financial Network Bank.

When I got home they sent me an introductory welcome package of materials. From that point on, I never heard from them again. I have no bills, no written correspondence, and no attempt was made to collect for the purchase.

In December 2008 I started getting phone calls from Linda Biggs, account manager at WFNB but she didn't say what the nature of her calls were. Finally they sent me a written correspondence dated 12/08/08 saying they wanted to "help me with my colombian emerald bill." They proceeded to offer me a special hardship plan.

I responded by paying of the entire ring amount but lo and behold there was no return envelope for payment.Since then I have called WFNB and spoken to a fool who claims I was 3 months late with payment although the ring was purchased 16 months ago. His comment to me was that it was not their responsiblity to provide a payment envelope. I got angry and I hung up because I feel this is a low handed attempt to scam late fees and interest payments.

I just went through this with another company and am pleased to say the matter was settled in my favor. Boy! Our economy must REALLY be in the crapper if the only way we can generate money is to keep trying to scam fees and interest.

People - stay stong and continue to fight the power!
