Well, I should have known it was to good to be true. My wife called me at work and told me she won a $1000 shopping spree. She picked up the certificate and we paid the $10 processing fee to www.shoppingspreeforyou.com to get our passcode and then went to World of America's site to get our free swag. After browsing through woarewards.com and picking out what we wanted, we were surprised to notice that we'd have to pay almost $600 for our goods. The certificate clearly states and I quote, "There are hundreds of different gift items and premium services that you can order FREE, except for a small shipping and handling charge on each item." I called World of America and they told me that their policy had changed in January. What they couldn't tell me, was why they are still sending out certificates today, without this new information. Here's an example of what happens when you try to get your "free" stuff. I need a new cellphone, so I picked this off their site:

You Only Pay Price, S&H: $261.95
To Families of Troops: $9.84
I'm still being charged $261.95 for the phone, which is far from free. In reality, if I paid the $39.95 for their annual membership, I would have paid the same price. So there really is no shopping spree, it's just a good ole' bait and switch tactic to get you to buy their stuff.

After sending an email to Shoppingspreeforyou.com and telling them about my problem with World of America, they refunded my $10 fee. I filed a complaint with the BBB about W.O.A. and I'll see what happens.
