Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On 4/28/2014 we went to World Volkswagen of Toms River to seek out new car After credit was run the manager David and sales rep Chad Lorenzo said only way to get one is to take the 2012 Ford Fusion for now and after making on time payments for 6 months he would get us into any care new one at 0% interest or used 1.9% under their guaranteed customer retention program . On 11/7/2014 we contacted Chad Lorenzo to start the process and were informed that they would not do it and that what David said didn't matter and he was not there anymore and he was going to see what they could do and call us back . I called them back on 11/10/14 and spoke to Glen who said nothing they could do and didn't matter what David said because he was no longer working there. David and his salesman pressured us all day and made us overpay with the understanding that they would refinance at those rates in 6 months and it would help to build up our credit. Unfortunately we were naive and they did take advantage of us with those promises. Now no one is willing to listen call back or answer to help us get this solved all we got told verbatim is tough luck and that David now works at this establishment so go there and ask him to keep that promise

Auto dealerships can not refinance your car

I have no doubt that you were told to come back in 6 months and your car would be refinanced. But know this:  NO auto dealer has the ability to refinance any vehicle. They want to have you come back to them to sell you another vehicle.

The financing for your vehicle is either with a credit union or a bank or some other lender most likely. It is typical that even the current lender you have won't refinance it.

However, if you go to another bank or credit union, they will refinance it if you qualify. There are some factors that play into this:

  • The current value of your vehicle
  • The current loan amount (payoff) of your vehicle
  • Your current milage will affect the value
  • Your credit and income and other debt will determine your ability to qualify

As you know by now, never believe any car sales representative that tells you to buy now and come back X months later to refi at the dealership. It isn't even an option. What they really want to do is see if they can get you to trade into a more expensive vehicle. It is a lose-lose situation. If a rep tells you to come back to refi, walk out without buying because you are about to get hosed.

There are plenty of credit unions around the country that refinance vehicle loans. Check them out.
