This company charged my credit card for six months for a membership that I know nothing about. Then when I finally notice the charges and call the number to find out what is going on. I am told that they will happily cancel the membership....good, but what about the other six months worth of fraudulent charges to my credit card?

This is big ripoff and it has cost me.... this company is a scam and I am working on finding out where they got my information. Their so called customer service did nothing, but stop stealing from me when they got caught. I wish there was a way to get a refund for every dime they took from me.

Shortly before posting this RipOffReport complaint, JT contacted us directly regarding the charges on his account. When he spoke to the customer service representative, he asked for an explanation of the charges that he had seen on his credit card. We offer several different types of memberships. While the standard iFriends membership carries no charge, the charges seen by JT were for additional premium services requested. The membership in which JT opted to enroll included the fees mentioned in his report. The representative explained this to JT at the time of his call. All charges incurred by JT on the account were clearly and conspicuously disclosed in advance. No customer could incur charges as specified in JT's complaint without advance disclosure of such charges and numerous multiple click-throughs by the customer to indicate his acknowledgement and affirmative consent to such charges. Our toll-free telephone number is posted prominently next to every charge on every credit card bill a customer receives. Additionally, a link to telephone and email contact information is provided on every page of the website. If at any time a customer has a question or problem, we encourage them to call us so that it may be resolved to the customer's satisfaction. JT had in fact created two accounts with iFriends. At the time of his call, he asked to cancel both of these accounts. The representative did so, and confirmed to JT that the accounts were cancelled. At no time did JT indicate that he was dissatisfied with this action, and at no time while on the phone with the customer service representative did he request any refunds. Indeed, at the time of his call, JT indicated that this outcome was satisfactory to him. However, JT's complaint indicates quite clearly that he was not completely satisfied. We have issued refunds for the charges for which JT was billed. However, we strongly encourage JT to contact our Customer Support Department (open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) at (800) 243-9726, and ask to speak to a customer service manager who can resolve any lingering questions that JT may have about our service or about the account that was created. Our transaction records indicate that the accounts in question were created using JT's personal information, including credit-card number, mailing address, email address, and IP address. The foregoing information was verified by JT when he called, and was also independently verified using records supplied by Visa, as well as by internet IP-address registries. Our company has a spotless 11-year-record with all of the leading consumer protection agencies, and we are an industry leader in the development of model online consumer best practices. Every one of our web services is verified by TRUSTe to be on its sealholder list of "the most trustworthy online businesses." All prices and terms on our service are clearly and conspicuously disclosed, including use of prominent icons and multiple clickthroughs, in any instance in which a customer will incur charges. In addition, our "Customer is Always Right" policy ensures that we take action sufficient to obtain each customer's complete satisfaction, including making refunds for any charges which a customer has incurred but disputes.
