Mr. Dukes,

I have known the person you describe as "Billy" for forty years and he is not delusional or a liar. Your statements in regards to this are simply not true.  He is one of the most honorable people I have known since we met in 1971 when we were neighbors. Your claims that he is anything but honest is nothing but nonsense. I have spoken to him at length in regards to your less than honest dealings with him and I firmly believe that you did take goods and services in the names of military charities and did convert those goods for your own benefit. Specifically, the guitar Mr. Ted Nugent signed and personally informed you that was to be auctioned off at a fundrasier and such monies receieved by this sale were to be directed towards wounded Marines was never done by you. Instead, I am informed you kept the guitar and converted it to your own use as part of your personal guitar collection without compensation to the fundraiser it was meant to be auctioned off for. How dare you steal from our wonded servicemen.   

I have also investigated your claim of being named an Honorary Marine for Life and I cannot find any such entry or record of your name on the Marine's website. The site's link is here: http://marines.mil/community/pages/honorarymarine.aspx. You can click on this link and you can see every person named as an Honorary Marine going back twenty years and your name does not appear anywhere on this list. Can you please explain how this is given your claim of receiving this title? I have spoken to the Marine's JAG's office in regards to this claim of yours and the receiving of goods and services in the name of wounded Marines and they stated you have never been conferred with this honor and you have no authority to recieve anything on behalf of the Marine Corp or it's wounded Marines. They specifically stated they do their own fundraising and anything solicited and recieved by you in their name is not authorized and theft.

How is this possible given all your claims of being an Honorary Marine for Life if no one, including the Marine Corp, acknowledges ever bestowing such a title on you? If you had received this title why isn't it recorded on the Marine's website that specifically honors individuals that have received this honor? The one thing that I do know is that it's a federal offense to claim that you have received military honors bestowed upon you without in fact having received them. The only question as a point of law is whether you could be prosecuted for your false claim of receivorship is whether an honorary title would count. This is a question the FBI will have to be presented with for an investigation to be conducted. One thing I do know is that if Bill's claim that you have been soliciting and receiving goods and services for wounded military veterans and then converting those items to your benefit, you will be prosecuted.

I am also aware of your legal threats to Bill and your claim that you have retained counsel and have threatened to sue him for slander and libel for his publishing of the fact of your conversion of donated goods into your name under false pretenses for your own private benefit. The wording of this fake attorney e-mail makes it rather clear that you have not retained anything but more lies. No self-respecting attorney would ever draft such a poorly written document for use in a cease and desist letter to a potential litigant. When you drafted this e-mail to scare Bill you might have at least cracked open a law book or two to make sure you got your law and tort theories correct. To put it rather mildy, that letter was a joke and clearly is indicative of someone trying to evade possible prosecution through scare tactics.

However, given I am a bit more astute in legal writing, I will be working with Bill to draft a legally sufficient letter to your local District Attorney, Assistant United States Attorney, and US Military Counsel's office to see what can be done about your claims of false military honors and using such false honors claim to solicit and receive goods and services for wounded servicemen and their subsequent conversion by you of those goods to your private use.

I have also advised Bill to copy and retain all postings done by you for a libel, slander, and deffamantion of character action against you should he decide to retain counsel to pursue this action. This includes all e-mail and attachments you have sent him to confirm your conversion of donated goods and services to your private use by the law enforcement agency that decides to prosecute you.

Something you should know and I think you obviously don't remember.  You corresponded with me by email in regards to the concert tickets you supplied, these emails include a copy of the flyer that was sent out in regards to us offering the tickets for a donation as well as the number of tickets (70) and who's names they were left in at the ticket booth in NJ for pick up.  Dukes is using you as he uses everyone else for his own gain and you just put yourself on the record telling a lie.  I'm sure Mr. Keith wouldn't appreciate his name being associated with the likes of Tony Dukes.  I suggest you re-think what you wrote and post an appropriate and corrected rebuttal. Helping the troops is always a good thing but hitching your wagon to the likes of Tony is a huge mistake.  To bad you let him talk you into posting a fairy tale rebuttal.

BTW, Tony is posting rebuttals under assumed names, and his co-worker Rex who we nicknamed "wrecks" while on the hog hunt after he sat on the camera doesn't even warrant any further discussion.

I have had the privilege of meeting Billy at a number of fund raisers and benefits. I also have a number of mutual friends who have been involved with him in fund raisers, law enforcement, and activities with firearms. I also know Chris Ryan. My personal experience with Billy includes the following: 1. His honesty in fundraising is 100%. Every t-shirt Billy sells - he logs into a ledger, and asks that the purchaser sign - and send a greeting to Sgt. Ryan. He includes the amount - and the Ryan family sees the ledger. I know, because when I purchased shirts - this was done. I've also seen him do this at other fund raisers. 2. Billy is an expert in firearms safety - his credentials are a matter of record. Based upon personal experience and references from people I respect, Tony Duke's rant is absolutely out of line. I have only second hand knowledge of Mr. Dukes, but I can state that his comments are NOT facual, which leads to the question - is HE in fact delusional, a liar or a law breaking thief? All I can say is - he can't be believed when he talks about Billy.

So there have been posts from some guy claiming to have had a bad time with Tony, then Tony himself, and finally Toby Keith's tour manager...so why not throw in a wounded vet's opinion who has gotten the PRIVILEDGE to be associated with Tony. From the minute that Tony heard my name and just the simple fact that I was shot in Iraq, he has jumped at any opportunity to help me or any other wounded vet. If I had not gotten the chance to meet the guy or receive constant e-mails with invitations to go to sporting events or concerts then I might have been willing to give Billy's opinion a second look. However, I can promise anyone who reads this rebuttal that Tony Dukes is the real thing. For the past 2 years (since I've been hurt) he has been the number one guy that I've met who is genuinely and passionately enthusiastic to help people and especially vets. The fact that he is sick, or terminal, is some of the worst news I had ever heard and I couldn't stop thinking about how it is happening to such a great guy who is helping so many. I've been to a Toby Keith concert with Tony. He really is friends with the tour manager. In fact, when all the handicap parking spaces were taken, he made room right next to Toby's tour bus for me and my wife to park so we'd have room to get my wheelchair out. I would love to meet or speak with Billy, the federal agent, so I can find out what went wrong....but there are very few people that I would put my name behind, or want to be in a foxhole with, than Tony Dukes.

I met Tony Dukes almost 8 years ago and know him to be a lot different than Billy describes. The only description that Billy gets correct is when he mentions Tony's enthusiasm. Whatever he claims happened on that ranch is from his own slanted take on things. I wasn't there so I can't tell you what did or didn't happen but a very reputable person and also a volunteer that went on that hunt described to me some very unsafe and unethical hunting practices by Billy and Mr. Ryan a couple of days after they returned. I know Tony Dukes to be an extremely dedicated person to the wounded warriors of this country whether they returned from our current war or one prior to this one. I know that one of the single most important missions in his life is to return these heroes to the woods. I have personally been on several of these hunts with Tony and these soldiers and have never witnessed any of the unkind and untrue that Billy describes. I have witnessed him buying airline tickets, hunting gear, hunting licenses, food, hotels, fuel, etc out of his own pocket. For Billy to question Tony's integrity and his devotion to the military is one thing but to try and publicly humiliate him is another. It seems to me that Billy made some bad decisions on this man's ranch and was called out on them so he is trying to retaliate. I have to question Billy's claim that he handed Tony an envelope full of cash when he arrived for a free hunt. As far as Tony's association with Ted Nugent, no.he doesn't work for Ted Nugent. He has in the past. That is FACT. Another facthe has filmed dozens of hunting segments for Ted Nugent's various hunting shows.and yes.some of them were with regular video cameras that your average Joe would go out and buy. Billy needs to do his homework here. Two years ago, the majority of hunting shows were not filmed with Hi-Def cameras. Most of these shows do not have large budgets. Tony bought that camera when he saved up enough to afford one. For Billy to claim that Tony used an envelope full of cash that he claimed to have given him to buy a Hi-Def camera is totally without merit here. Another falsehood orchestrated by Billy to assassinate Tony's character. Now, let's get to the issue of using Toby Keith tickets to raise money for hunts. That did not happenthat is a FACT. How do I know? I am Toby Keith's tour manager and I handle all of Toby Keith's tickets. NEVER has there EVER been tickets sold to raise money for hunting trips. That is a false claim by Billy. That is not something that we have ever done or will we ever do. Has Tony ever requested tickets for people at our shows? Absolutely! We have furnished tickets for soldiers, their families, ranchers, doctors, R, W & B show sponsors, outfitters, and numerous others who have served in one capacity or another. I also have never known Tony to sell autographed photos of Toby Keith or to take any money EVER. I have sent dozens of photos to our warriors at Tony's request however. Billy makes several claims against Tony but he doesn't seem to have back up or anyone else's support here. He claims he does but I haven't seen the proof. Where are all of these people Billy speaks for? As for Tony Duke's integrity, I can only attest to what I know of him and that he is devoted to our military for their sake.not his own personal gain! He has always been professional and beyond reproach when it comes to his dealings. I know where Tony's heart is. I know it to be good. I will continue to support him in any way that I can. You will see that many, many people will line up in support of a good man doing good work with our military. Shame on Billy for trying to tarnish Tony Dukes.
