I clicked on a link on facebook advertising "free diet tea" and I was sent to the Wu-Yi Source web page, a very lengthy page extolling the virtues of their diet tea system, extolled by Ophrah, etc. I read part way through the site with its many links to order and I decided to try a sample. When I proceeded with the order, I was asked for my credit card information for the $4.95 shipping fee. After I put the information in, the next link was a confirmation that I was enlisting in a $59.95 per month program for tea. I did not complete the order and I closed the order form.

After that, I began receiving calls from California with no message. I'd get a couple a day, but since I don't answer my cell phone at work and I didn't know anyone in California, I didn't return the calls. One evening they got me to answer, and I was annoyed because they were burning up my cell phone minutes. They wanted to "complete my transaction" and "confirm my credit card number." They recorded this call, so this is documented. I told them I could not afford the monthly fee and the oriental lady was obnoxious and persistent, so I hung up on her.

They continued to harrass me daily with calls. I wouldn't answer the phone because I recognized the number. I was also charged a shipping fee of $4.95. Finally I answered the phone and blasted the next lady about the bogus shipping fee and not wanting the product. I asked to be put on the do-not-call list and everything. She kept on talking as if I wanted the product. I said "no, I don't want it" over and over. I hung up on her, too. About 10 days later I received tea in the mail.

About this time, I started to google Wu-Yi Source on the Internet, and there were tons of blogs complaining about the same kinds of thing. I ran into one blog that said that the way the person got results was to go on the Wu-Yi Source web page and use the on-line help. That was useful information. That was how I got results.

On on-line help, I complained to Brooke about 2/13/09 or thereabouts about the two $4.95 charges on my statement and receiving the tea that I didn't order. She contested that, and insisted that I must have ordered it because they had a credit card number for me. I didn't let her sidetrack me with her insinuations. I demanded a return address to send the tea to. (There is no information on or in the box or the website that was a true contact number. The phone number on the box is just a recording. The phone number listed with the credit card company for contact is just a recording. The phone number on the website is the telemarketer phone number.)

Brooke cancelled my monthly "membership" and gave me the address to return the tea to (Wu-Yi USA, PO Box 10233, Des Moines, IA 50381). She gave me an account cancellation number and a RMA number. She also told me to ask for delivery confimation and to keep the number. She told me that I would receive an email from them after receipt of the package.

About 3 days after the phone call, my credit card was billed $59.95. Then, it took almost month for my returned priority package to post a delivery confirmation, and 10 days afterward, I had neither received a refund or an email.

I went back to on-line help and gave Wu-Yi Source my RMA number and my Delivery confirmation number. The on-line lady told me I would have my money refunded in 5-10 days. She gave me a confirmation number and backed it up with an email. That's where it stands as of today. The two charges of $4.95 is unresolved, but it looks like after a couple months of problems, this finally seems to be over.

You can buy black tea at the supermarket for a couple bucks. I don't care how special the black tea grown on the Wu-Yi mountain is. Thirty tea bags for almost $60 is insane. I hope this information is helpful to someone. It may be that the telemarketers employed by these people are unscrupulous, but the whole business just seems very shady to me.
