The website, like all others has the big "As seen on TV" hoarding all over it. Indeed, the TV ad is the most likely way for you to have got conned into buying this.
There are two parts to their game:
1) Advertising descriptions of product on TV that are complete lies compared to what you receive
2) Advertising 'buy one get one free' and deliberately hiding the shipping charges (specially on the purchase website) which are higher than the total product cost (so you stand to lose even more money if you try to return it)
Details:
1) What they show & talk about over and over in the TV ad is the sheer vibrancy of colors and clarity of the vision through the lens of the 'HD vision' sunglasses - "Like no other glasses you've ever worn".
The blues, greens, reds etc through the lenses as shown in the advertisement are all highly enhanced - like the effect of high quality polarizing lenses. And the advertised price of $10 for TWO pairs gets you logging into the website pronto...
BUT when you finally get them you realize that it was straight lies -
The lenses are totally color-tinted (mine were dark brown) which means you everything is darkened and dulled AND loses its original color (meaning that red appears as brown-black and not as red, green appears as yellow-brown-black, etc). The real polarizing lenses are also tinted dark (they're sunglasses afterall) but the colors through them all appear ENHANCED. Eg red, blue, green through real polarizing lenses appear more saturated but still retain their color properties as red, blue, green. "HD Vision" resembles the truth as closely as saying "Muddy brown is crystal blue"
2> The fine print which you easily end up missing, nonchalantly mentions the shipping cost (buried deep in the verbiage somewhere) but NOWHERE on the website or during the ordering process do they show the shipping cost to you. IT IS NOT UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMED THE ORDER that you see the shipping price for each pair is $5.99 meaning that you pay $12 shipping for 2 pairs of glasses costing $10
If the glasses were even remotely similar to their description on TV, it would've still been a good deal despite the hidden shipping. But since you've now got conned, there's no point returning them because you'll pay another $5 atleast for the shipping (they don't provide return labels obviously) - which means you lose around $20 on the whole and have no product at all. Better to let your pet dogs/cats adorn these and make them more hip.
