Anyone can garnish your wages IF they have a court order against you and know where you work. You MUST have that court order, though. It's a long process to go through and most people/companies, unless their huge companies with lots of money, won't go through the hassle. They'll send it to collections first.

If you can, seek the advice of an attorney, also talk to your HR dept, ask them legally who has the right to garnish, I don't believe a private corp can do that only the government (ie..child support, unemployment etc.) If this is for a timeshare issue, then they can't because it's secured by the timeshare and they have to foreclose which also kills your credit but it will eventually go away...we are all in the same boat..
